Discussion....

Are we adults? Relatively intelligent? Do we live in a Liberal democracy? Is it the 21st century? We should all be allowed to say what we want to say, so long as we're willing to own our opinions and are willing to suffer the backlash which may ensue if we espouse various unacceptable opinions. As for sarcasm and taking the mickey: sometimes that's just what a heavy discussion needs. If we all run around too scared to offend everyone honesty is lost and everyone loses out: eventually the site's user group becomes smaller, and it's only the people who agree with the party line who remain: sod that. I'd rather you told me to my "face" I was a tool than you lie and pretend you agree when secretly, you think I'm a tool. It seems fashionable, of late, to tell people what they're allowed and not allowed to say, everyone qualifying their disapproval or dislike with trite openers like... "While I respect your right to hold opinion X", or, "while I support your right to say what you like, I however...". Say what you want to say. Please. That's what forums are for.

In our moments...

It was a question... a discussion... about discussion... You have many valid points all of which I think vary as to what the over all goal/intent is.

I've spent enough time in forums where sniping, rampant sarcasm, name calling is the norm.... it has little or no value to me.

Guess I'm gettin old, like a slower pace, less running around with pitchforks and more sittin in the rockers on the porch.
