How Was Your Week?

Up until last Friday I thought the highlight of my week was going to be getting a 43" Jumbo-Western acoustic to fit into a 41" standard guitar bag, but then I got word that my sister-in-law's visa was approved and she'll be able to accompany my mother-in-law on her upcoming visit. So, here's something you'll seldom hear uttered in the English language; "Woohoo, my in-laws are coming for a 3 month stay!!!!":)

I hope that, unlike my father, you like your family (he loathed his parents and barely tolerated his siblings; whenever he talked about his family, he was talking about his in-laws.) Heck, he shunned his family from 1945-1951 then from 1965-roughly the 1980s, and the only reason he reconnected with them was because mom wouldn't marry him unless she met them!

When my mother's older brother died, dad completely lost it in grief, yet when dad's older brother died, absolutely nothing except contempt (they passed away roughly the same month or not that far apart time-wise.)

At this point, my in-laws pretty much are my family. Both my parents are gone as are their sibs. I have 2 sisters left out of 3. Haven't seen either for over 40 years and 1 brother I haven't seen for almost 30. That's a decision they made though, leaving me, the youngest, to care for our mother to her dying day. All water under the bridge now. I've moved on.
 
It's been a hectic week getting ready for my mom and sis-in-law visit, but they're currently in the air and en route!:)

My birthday is only a few days a way and the DHL man brought me an early present all the way from China via South Australia! Love it Auss, thanks!:cool:

Got a phone call from DB (Dear Brother. :rolleyes: ) concerning where to purchase a vegetarian turkey roast. He's too fooking lazy to just open his own peepers and look around. There are two, possibly three, grocery chains that carry them, plus he could use his own telephone if he doesn't want to go out and find what he's looking for.

Having a good time with the in-laws. I can't believe it's been a month already. We told them to make themselves at home, so sis-in-law took over the kitchen and mom-in-law took over the TV!:D

Our Jackie and my mom-in-law are quite enamored with one another. Odd, since he doesn't normally take to women and she's not particularly fond of cats. She calls him, "phajee chhote ladaka" (Fuzzy little boy).
 
Quiet so far. Going to 6 (all at once) baptisms for friends' children tomorrow. Assume that will be significantly louder.
 
One of my neighbors left while cooking a ham in the oven. Set off all the fire alarms in the building, plus the alarms kept going throughout the fooking night. Burned the ham as well as the peanut butter and jelly "glaze"....

A landfill "burial" would be more humane for everyone else (the smell that permeates the carpeting... :confused: )

Found out earlier today that peanut butter on hamburger patties is a "delicacy" in Minnesota (or is that "an old wives tale"?)

Stellar new year thus far! Finally out the doghouse for missing midnight mass this past holiday. Not Catholic, but the local mission has a nice service for the native kids every year and we generally load up a bunch in one of our stake-bodies, duly decorated for the occasion, and head on out. My son and his gal volunteered to chauffeur the chariot this season and left early. The wife and I were supposed to join them later on, but I got to talking with NJ and forgot all about it. Sooo... things got a little chilly around here for a few days.:(

Any road, all's forgiven now and things are warm and cozy agian.:)
