lol...when you try to chip a rock into an arrow head...and it doesn't work...and you use another rock...and then you find a rock that works...that trial and error...that experimentation...is science...not religion.
Materialism....
Surely you've seen the video of Evanglisitic Preachers saying G!d told them, G!d wants them to have a new private jet...and the people should pay....the size of their homes, the size of their churches...
Catholic Church $200 billion + Vatican [2]
Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints $40 billion United States [3][4]
Church of England $7.8 billion United Kingdom [5]
Opus Dei (part of the Catholic Church) $2.8 billion Italy [6]
Church of Scientology $1.0 billion United States
90% of materialist capitalists are envious....
Art, Scientific exploration, search for meaning all proceed monotheism....
93% of scientists and 67% of philosophers are not believers... Couldn't find a study on artists....either way
Over the past 100 years this has probably changed fairly dramatically in all three fields (meaning, science and art)...yet the number of philosphers, artists and scientists has continually climbed.
I am an agnostic (don't know) pantheist (like to believe G!d is in everything) unitic (not your conventional Christian)...
Though you were talking about human consciousness.Well human consciousness is complex and has complex origins, but that's not God consciousness.
Sorry ... older I'm getting, grumpier I seem to be getting, lol
Made in the image of G!d... I imagine that image is more our capacity to imagine/create/consciousness than it is body...Though you were talking about human consciousness.
Knee jerk reactions are what they are.... I didn't isolate out the Catholics...they were just at the top of the list I found because they have so much wealth. Much of that is probably in prime real estate...
What we resist persists....Clowns don't like Homey, or Pennywise...whine everytime someone calls our politicians clowns... Lawyers are tired of being called Shysters, and Liars... Mormons, JWs, everyone has their cross to bear.... most do not bear it well. Not you. I don't think you're saying that. But a Catholic gets weary of being clobbered with this stuff, lol.
I think you are conflating religion and theology.lol...when you try to chip a rock into an arrow head...and it doesn't work...and you use another rock...and then you find a rock that works...that trial and error...that experimentation...is science...not religion.
There used to a saying when 'the Irish Problem' reared its head in politics: "If you think you have the answer, you haven't understood the question."... that is until science, technology, engineering or math and prove G!d.
That's true ... it's where the train of thought led me.Though you were talking about human consciousness.
You said it!When we act defensive...we keep the rumors and myths alive....
I don't think we can? I see our consciousness as embodied 'at source' as it were, although how Quantum-type activity — entanglement, Eistein's derided 'spooky action at a distance', might impact on that is another question. Consciousness however does not site within the parameters of the physical sciences, it's certainly not Newtonian, and while Quantum Physics opens up huge areas of debate, that does not mean that consciousness can be defined or explained in Quantum terms.I so wish someone could provide reasonable objective evidence of disembodied consciousness (my edit, 'intelligence' is something else.
I don't doubt it. What I wonder is that when we say 'angelic consciousness' we immediately and inescapably think of consciousness in human terms. Why do angels look like us? We do we have angelic auditions, visions. etc? Because that's the way our consciousness interprets the data, the conscious effect of perceiving (however dimly) an immanent presence. I have said here before, and it's not my idea, that the evidence that suggests a link between prophetic/mystical states and neurological disorders — Scriptural descriptions of Ezekiel suggests something akin to epilepsy, and more than one mystic suffered the same ... but might not an epileptic fit be triggered by an 'overload' as the physical senses try to interpret incoming signals?I have had so much direct experience of 'angelic' consciousness. Prophetic dreams. Spiritual guidance.
In calming the external noise.God is found in quietness and humility and silence.
I liked this!Human consciousness is contingent upon the body, upon nature and nurture. It is a non-spatial, non-temporal field generated by and therefore, I would suggest, anchored to, corporeal activity
