But we do now. This person showed all the classic signs of covert narcissism in his first post. Sense of entitlement, grandiose sense of self while casting himself as victim. It's a noble thing to give someone a chance I think, but this kind of person is always toxic to a community. As the saying goes, "when someone tells you who they are, believe them."

I just hope I don't get banned for expressing very strong opinions/affections. I'm not sure what being fired here means but I know what it feels like to be on fire. :(
 
This forum is far from dead...we don't have the volume of other forums...we have a group of friends who show up to chat about belief and thoughts and develop a better understanding of others.

I always find when I go to someone's house or restaurant it is good to start by insulting the hosts.

Me too. Sometimes you have to just shake a few bushes and see what runs out. It's just a temporary tactic though, born out of necessity. No one wants to be completely under the thumb of hosts. We're guests, not property. A good host will know that.
 
The times these forums nearly died, it was always @wil who nudged them back to life. Things have changed in the 20 yrs since Brian started IO.

The rent runs until September 2022. Then will be the decision to renew, or not -- as case may be. It's not huge: $200 a year.

There are three administrators, with equal permissions, to take the reins if anything happens to the others.

Long-time active members run the site, not the present 'owner'

It is a relief to know the site is in good hands of members who value it, and value the values IO has always tried to follow
