I was reading the thread about what sect or denomination we all might be, when it occurred to me that since I don't really adhere to any one religion it might be fun to invent one.
I propose a new fake religion called The Church of Rock, which uses rock music ( and its derivatives) lyrics as scripture. Personally I'm of the "Floydian" sect.

Of course this would be somewhat problematic since there would be divisions, conflicts, and all the rest that comes with an organized system of thought, But at least it would rock.

Let us not forget St Petrus Viridi, Peter Green in the vernacular.

As well as a Floydian, I profess an allegiance to the Early Fleetwood Macians, and while John McVie, Mick Fleetwood and Christine Perfect will always be in mind, I find myself somewhat removed from the Church of the Latter Day Macs.

(Camping trip delayed 24hrs – auto electrics!)

We're binge-watching Justified at the moment, topped off with Modern Family as light relief.

Season Three of Justified and heard this, the opening lyric made me laugh.

Oh, there was a time in my youth I subscribed to such a church. Played lead guitar in a 4 piece blues/rock band and was quite sure I'd be doing that the rest of my life. Things were going pretty great for us actually. Had a regular paying gig, wrote some of our own music, even cut an album. Tough business though and aside from some local notoriety, not much else ever came of it. Eventually, we all went our separate ways, pursuing other interests. Last I heard, two members are gone now and the one remaining, beside myself currently lives in Puerto Rico.

I guess in some ways I still subscribe to that church, often looking back and pondering, what if..... :cool:

There was a Saturday Night Live skit back in the Belushi / Akroyd days about the First Church of Rock 'n' Roll.

I think the "books" that influenced me most were those of SuperTramp, Yes, Emerson - Lake - Palmer, Styx and the like. From the Beginning, I was a Lucky Man even though just a Dreamer committing the Crime of the Century. The passage that most spoke to me was Carry On Wayward Son, from the book of Kansas.
