Happy Rosh Hashanah

Help me remember. They were all Conservo or OJ’s. Metis was the only Reform. Seems like many posts are missing.

Another year reaches its conclusion. A new year begins. May we know peace. May it be a year for good, not evil, for hope and not despair,
Praying for healing, strength, and guidance for all of the world, especially those in the Middle East where the conflict seems to be escalating.

Dear RabbiO, I am so sorry that I left you with an impression on other threads that I am down on the Jewish faith tradition. The “tribalism” I am concerned with is mostly in the Christian tradition. I am a Christian, and I am clear about the fact that the morality and discipline of Jewish faith laws is part of being spiritual. Also I have no reason to think Jews are “tribal” as a whole. The Jewish methods of group-processing of scripture seem way more open-minded and geared toward deeper spiritual understanding than most of the teaching methods of the Church. I think there are enlightened in any religion, and that the Jewish tradition is just as good a vehicle for spiritual growth as any. In fact, I see Jesus as being a highly spiritual Rabbi who only “saves” me by setting a good example and teaching me about spirituality, “The Way“
He didn’t take away my sins. He helps me grow towards wholeness so I am no longer as enslaved by brokenness and clinging to lesser, worldly, things.
Love,
Darrell (otherbrother)
