That record likely lives on in the minds of others...I wonder what happens to the "permanent record" of people with some form of dementia (Alzheimers, Picks, Parkinsonian, etc.)
Ditto those with soe form of brain trauma...

I have a son that really likes hearing stories of relatives that passed before he was born.
Grandma Paula, though dead several decades, lives on in the story of the day she threw her dress over her head...
She had a fear of mice. She was cleaning in her house dress, with nothing on underneath(as I hear was common in those days). She sat down to take a rest with a book. Feeling a tiny warm body crawl into her dress, she panicked. She grabbed the creature in the fabric of her dress, and ripped the whole thing off, throwing it across the room... Right as my (then child)uncle brought his friend in through the front door.
Her permanent record lives on(with love).
