Abstracting from the fact that the Semitic people include not only Israelites but also various peoples including the Arabs, the scope of Antisemitism is often enlarged to anyone criticising the acts of the Israeli government's action.
I'm among those people, and, adding to it, I'm a Muslim. But I am NOT anti -Israelite, I would never take action against any Jew because he/she is a Jew, rather I respect your faith and I even study the Jewish scripture and the Jewish law, and I defend Jews in my community and anywhere else.
But I vigorously condemn the actions of Netanyahu and his government. In my eyes, he's a warlord who is guilty of persecuting, chasing away, robbing and even killing any Palestinian, and muting any Jewish/Israeli voice who dare criticise him (like Ha-Arez).
I understand that Jews appreciate the existence of a Jewish state, but
can you really consent to Netanyahu ?
Is it an offence to call him a warlord, an aspirant dictator and a war criminal? Is it not right to insist on "an eye for an eye" if many million innocent people are killed for a crime committed on a thousand innocent Israeli?
I prefer answers from Jews, so others, please hold back.

I'll reply although I don't think this thread is suitable for this forum and may be 'disappeared'.

Ok, I am a Jew by birth I am also an Israeli citizen as well as a British citizen. I now live in England.

Indeed. I emigrated there from England because of the anti-Semitism I experienced whilst growing up(Mainly from Christians) and by Arabs(particularly Syrians and Iraqis) as well as those representing the UN, when I went to university(late 1960s).

I was not religious but did become religious for a while in Israel. I did enjoy the religion, however I moved on.(I have shared details elsewhere on the forum.) I have no antagonism towards religious Jews and can still dance with them and share the joy of life.

Firstly I do not consider criticism of Israel to be anti-Semitic. The people that do this are just silly(imo).
There has always been severe government criticism internally as long as I can can remember. (Two Jews = 3 Opinions :>))
Being a Jewish state means a state where any Jew can live, whether religious or not.

I'm by no means an expert on the politics of Israel, I gave up voting there years ago because of all the arguing and many elections.

but
can you really consent to Netanyahu ?

You can call him what you want., many Israelis would use those terms. (These memes are not new.) I see him as the person who has been successful in holding a government together after many failed elections. I don't think him to be anything other than a successful politician in a country surrounded by enemies. I don't really take much notice of the press. I have family and friends living there, who I zoom with to get information. (Also , I don't care if he accepts champagne as a present )

Is it not right to insist on "an eye for an eye" if many million innocent people are killed for a crime committed on a thousand innocent Israeli?

I see this war as a long time coming. Both Hamas and it's associates as well as Hizbula have been murdering Israelis for years with little response from Israel. Yes, the murder of the partying people was the trigger. Nothing to do with an eye for an eye or numbers (1000 vs millions).
I really hope Israel eradicates these enemies, who want to destroy the state.

So, this is really a precis of what I could write. Just my opinion.
Peace unto all of us.

Years ago I was part of the religious community on the Yahoo Answers forum. I asked some challenging yet disturbing questions. The answers were even more disturbing. The questions were reported and taken down constantly only to be reposted on appeal every time.
Ready for the questions?

1. What is the history of the conflict between Israel and Palestine?

Nobody could give any real thorough responses. Just a lot of generalizations and hate. Rarely any facts.

2. Does anyone actually care about the Jews and/or the Palestinians?

The responses were awful and full of hate. Everyone had an opinion. But unless the person was Jewish or Palestinian, they really didn't care. And they were ready to admit that they didn't care. But they sure did have a lot of opinions, mostly uneducated opinions.

I was heavily criticized for asking such a question. But these questions and answers helped form my opinion of what should be done about Israel and Palestine. So what should be done? I believe that every single country in the world needs to just mind their own business and stop interfering. With the exception of food, water, medical supplies, and other such aid, no nation should be interfering.

But that is my opinion. I am definitely open to suggestions.

@moralorel

I was on that Yahoo forum years ago and it was horrendous as you described. Since then , I have tried my best to keep out of politics and wars. Let's face it most of us are not in these places and are only informed via the press.
I only hesitantly replied to @talib-al-kalim 's post, hoping this doesn't evolve into something nasty.

As you say, 'everyone has an opinion', maybe that's why @talib-al-kalim asks for only responses from Jews.

Yes..... I agree with all of that.
IMO Netanyahu and his government have committed dreadful international crimes.

Some people do seem to believe that I would thus support the terrorist organisation of Hamas because of my above opinion. No!

Wilhelm Marr, back in 1879, if he did not invent the term, he single handedly popularized the term expressly for the purpose of having a more high falutin' expression for hatred of Jews than simply Jew hatred. You can argue that Marr popularized a term that was inexact, technically incorrect, but it is the meaning that the term had and continues to have. That's the way it happens sometimes. Just think of those folks in Lancaster County, PA (and elsewhere) who are still referred to as the Pennsylvania Dutch - even though the Netherlands is not from whence their ancestors came.

Yes, Pennsylvania Deutsche (germans)...similar misnaming of American natives by Columbus thinking the Caribbean was India. Or US ingrates calling American Bison Buffalo ...

Do we have to accept things when they are wrong?

technically incorrect,
to paraphrase something from Futurama, that would be the best kind of incorrect.

But somehow something about this clip reminds me of a joke posted by @Phyllis Sidhe_Uaine today

Off track maybe, but whenever I heard technically correct or technically incorrect, this snippet plays in my head.

I haven't seen you pressing to rename what are commonly referred to as sunrise and sunset.

Huh? The words 'sunrise and sunset' seem to be accurate in our language. Or did you think that there is a better expression for these events 'in English'?

And any corrections on titles are not 'renamings', but rather......corrections.

@everyone Just my observation...feel free to correct me

This is truly an interfaith forum.

Proof

This is the 'Judaism' dir.
The OP was a respectful post, posted by a non-Jew asking primarily for Jewish responses.
The only response directly to the OP was, from a Jew who is an atheist and from some non-Jews as well as another Jew, who did not answer to the OP.

The thread then diverged , elsewhere.
Neither the OP writer or others have made any complaint.

:)

Q.E.D

what should be done about Israel and Palestine.
Too much injustice has happened on both sides. True Justice can only happen when a Palestinian child has the same value as an Israeli child.

Anyone with a faith in God, should seek justice for all, love, mercy, forgiveness and peace.

We will all have to stand before the same God. How will people from both sides of the conflict, justify their acts of injustice and violence before God.

Absolutely!
Anyone with a faith in God, should seek justice for all, love, mercy, forgiveness and peace.
And anyone without any faith in any god should also seek justice for all, love, mercy and more.
We will all have to stand before the same God. How will people from both sides of the conflict, justify their acts of injustice and violence before God.
Well some of us don't actually believe in any theistical gods but we must also bring all acts of injustice before our courts.... absolutely.

It's so sad because it started out so nice. I was one of first people on that forum when it started. Learned a lot and had my eyes opened. Then it was overrun by trolls. Even the politics section was civil at first. Then it just fell apart.

Sunrise and sunset describe two daily events in the way that they visually appear to happen. I don't have a problem with using that terminology, but it does not accurately reflect the reality of what is actually occurring at those moments.

With that in mind do you have a clearer idea of what I was trying to say?
