"Es kann der Frömmste nicht in Frieden leben, wenn es dem bösen Nachbarn nicht gefällt." Friedrich Schiller - Wilhelm Tell

Translation:
"The most pious person cannot live in peace if the angry neighbour does not like it."

What is the benefit of liking peace?

What is the benefit of the angry neighbour?

Is it more beneficial in this world to be peaceful or to apply armed force?

Is it possible to win a war? What is the benefit?

Is it possible to win with peace? What is the benefit?

What did religious authorities (prophets, guru, wise) and great philosophers say?

How do you think and feel about it?

I suppose it depends upon WHAT you are trying to win - what you are trying to accomplish and what outcome you seek.

An angry neighbor is more a detriment than a benefit, from the point of view of their neighbor.
What is the angry neighbor angry about? What are their reasons and how good are their reasons?

Being peaceful vs applying armed force - which you might have to do if intruded on and not allowed to be peaceful?

This applies to day to day concepts of individuals wanting to be left alone but being stalked or harassed by someone, for whatever motive.

Brings to mind the concept of "peace through strength" - How strong do you have to be to be left in peace?

What is the benefit of liking peace?
You are more likely to achieve peace for your family and community.

What is the benefit of the angry neighbour?
None .. unless they have good reason for it.

Is it more beneficial in this world to be peaceful or to apply armed force?
..be peaceful .. salam w'alaikum :)

Is it possible to win a war? What is the benefit?
Yes, it is possible .. but it has no benefit unless it is a 'just war'.
..and therein lies the problem. Who says whether it is just?

Is it possible to win with peace?
I guess it depends on where you live.. :)

What did religious authorities (prophets, guru, wise) and great philosophers say?
Muhammad SAW, told us "Do not become angry", and repeated it many times.
Anger is from satan .. i.e. we will often do what we will regret in future
That is not to say, that controlled anger has no place in life .. but we need to beware.

If it is to be, it is up to me.

We have a choice how we respond, how we react to any given situation.

I am not the top in my class when it comes to my actions, words and behavior defusing, de-escalating situations. But the choice is always there.
