Question about Jesus and John

didymus said:
Jesus never said he was God.
Again you are absolutely correct. He said "I Am Who AM", and later "I Am the Alpha and Omega". And when Pontius Pilot claimed Jesus might be the Son of God, He remarked "It is as you say". And He said "I am in the Father, and the Father is in Me, whom so ever..."

He never said He was God, Did. You are correct.

I answered your alpha omega statement on another thread by accident.:)

Jesus said we must look at the world through a childs eyes. A child would ask why but when given the answer would believe the teller. We have been given the answers but are not satisfied and continue to ask why.

Welcome to CR VLreal ! ;)

This child asked questions, then asked tons more, because each answer brought more questions of wonder...I think that is part of what God wants us to do. Ask questions and find answers!!! ;)

Q

Children seem to keep asking questions of the answers they are given.

Why?

Why indeed. :)

John the baptist did that just for sure that he'll be martir (executed) for the right person.Bless 4 the body of Christ.

John was the last gospel written, perhaps in 100-110ad. This 70-80 years after Christ died. Surely Jesus was sent by God, he was holy beyond measure and I don't dispute that but I find discrepancies in the Bible that can't be overlloked. To me my belief in Jesus and God are not dependent on the accuracy of the Bible.
I agree. But how can you have accuracy with 100's of different Translations around with some religions using the Talmud, Koran or other books to "interpret" what God was saying in the OT?.

My own belief isn't dependant on whether Noah, Abraham, Isaac or Moses ever walked the earth, but what they were symbolizing to mankind.

And about setting dates of when each book was written in the Bible, I feel that is also a mistake, as the whole book is harmonized from the book of Genesis to the book of Revelation, and that is a lot more important, in my humble opinion, than trying to determine dates.

With "66" books to look at, it should be relatively easy to "weed out" discepencies, if one is really looking for them in the first place. The smaller NT epistles [outside of Acts and the gospels] could actually be harmonized into one book itself, just as the 4 gospels were harmonized a 100 yrs ago. [this is also an excellent way to read the Bible and the NIV has a chronological Bible out that I find helpfull]I would love to accurately Translate the NT using this.
The Fourfold Gospel by J. W. McGarvey and Philip Y. Pendleton, was published in book form in 1914 by Standard Publishing, Cincinnati; it was first issued quarterly in 1905 as Standard Bible Commentary. The expanded electronic version has been transcribed from a copy of the 1914 edition. The electronic text was released into the public domain in 1993 as note files for the Online Bible. Archives of the files are available at the Bible Foundation e-Texts Library.
The book of revelation is the only book in the NT that shows a new "heaven and earth", so I suppose it depends on what one's view is of the new heavens and earth described in Isaiah 65/66. Peace and Love to all.
