Ethics of Euthanasia

oh, and juantoo... yes, we also have hospices here, but all they can do is try and make ur last days as comfortable as possible, they cannot bump u off...

it seems bizzare to me that on the one hand, u can be a fan of capital punishment, but not assisted suicide- which causes me to wonder if u, like many others, view death as a punishment, rather than a natural occurance...?

lol like I said... I think he's been eating my brownies again...

I definitely want to be able to entertain options.

I am of sound mind now (all of you sit down and shut up!) and being of sound mind for the most part the past six years since I was returned from the brink....there have not been times when I wish it were over but there have been times trying to get around that I can see conditions in the future where exiting more gracefully would be preferable.

I took my 93 year old mother to visit a friend she has known since her teens....who decided he had enough. The cancer was raging, he was still able to think and talk and visit with his family and friends. His diagnosis was not pretty and he decided to leave willingly and not wait.

My kids, my mother and I were honored to say goodbye, appreciative of his description of his contemplation and choice and honored his decision. We went the funeral and all of his kids were understanding, sad, but understood and stood by his wishes.

I have a younger friend who trusted us to share his similar decision.
