What music are you listening to?

I remember this album well. I was living in Edinburgh, Scotland at the time..
I was "magic" 21 years old :)

Join Together by the (un)known band, The Who, is on in the background (the local radio station's playing "two-for" tributes to different rock bands' drummers this weekend for American Thanksgiving.)

Here's a video of the song:

Aha! Synchronicity strike 2!

My brother-on-law is taking a break on the Holy Island, so I sent him a link by the very same band, one I was quite into, back in the day, AND there was a TV documentary on Lindisfarne last night, which I shall watch on catch-up.

The link I sent was:
Same album!

But the song I always remember is:

And, if you're a Lindisfarne fan, you will know how many times 'sausage rolls' and mentioned on the lyrics of their album, Fog On The Tyne

And here's a crew who seemed to come and go ... but are still around:

Here's a classic track from a "little known band" from the North East of England..

There was an hour long programme on TV4 last night about Alan Hull and Lindisfarne. He was an amazingly prolific songwriter

Listening to Annie Lennox above reminds me of some awesome (and some dearly departed) Gaelic Ladies who absolutely nailed it!

So take some time out and enjoy:

Dolores O'Riordan RIP

Kirsty MacColl RIP

Elizabeth Davidson Fraser

Sinéad O'Connor

Speaking of the Gaels, and the ladies ... when my dad got really homesick he'd shut himself in the bedroom and play

Yeaaahes..

Sausage Roll is Cockney slang for Dole (welfare).

I've seen plenty of that in my lifetime :(

Sittin' in a sleazy snack-bar suckin'
Sickly sausage rolls
Slippin' down slowly
Slippin' down sideways
Think I'll sign off the dole

'Cause the fog on the Tyne is all mine, all mine
The fog on the Tyne is all mine
The fog on the Tyne is all mine, all mine
The fog on the Tyne is all mine

Could a copper catch a crooked coffin maker
Could a copper comprehend
That a crooked coffin maker is just an undertaker who
Undertakes to be a friend

'Cause the fog on the Tyne is all mine, all mine
The fog on the Tyne is all mine
The fog on the Tyne is all mine, all mine
The fog on the Tyne is all mine

Tell the truth tomorrow
Today will take it's time to
Tell you what tonight will bring,
Presently we'll have a pint or two together
Everybody do their thing
We can swing together
We can have a wee wee
We can have a wet on the wall
If someone slips a whisper
That his simple sister slapped them down
And they slavered on their smalls

'Cause the fog on the Tyne is all mine, all mine ...

This is the one that stands out for me.
Like our Scottish Annie, Sinéad O'Connor is able to express deep emotion in her songs.
Brilliant!

Interestingly, she became a Catholic priest.
However, due to the sexual abuse scandal in Eire, she became disheartened.

In 2018 she became a Muslim. This is what she said..
"the natural conclusion of any intelligent theologian's journey"

Here's an article from "I Am Birmingham." showing Sinéad in hijab. :)

She is now also known by her Islamic name Shuhada Sadaqat.
May G-d forgive us and save us from the fire of hell. Amen.

Can someone try to trans8 to English?

(Side note...me thinks this is an issue with literal reading of Scripture euphemisms)

The singers are the grandsons of two relatively famous country music legends:

One is the grandson of the late Waylon Jennings (Whey Jennings) and the other is the grandson of the late Johnny Cash (Thomas Gabriel).

The Great God Pan Is Dead (Long Live The Great God Pan) by THE DEVIL & THE UNIVERSE

Here's some background info on the ancient legend of the death of the great god Pan: The Death of Pan in Greek Mythology

It's a really cute, funny video, featuring ducks, goats, and a hen (I believe) besides Pan and his entourage. (Being vegan, I would not endorse anything causing harm to animals).

An (un)known band's cover of another (un)known band:

Yes, two members of Foo Fighters cover The Clash (too bad 17th isn't here!)
