What Video Games Have you Been Playing?

Could be, would be, if they did this, if they did that... But they won't Fighting sells darnit!

Asserting your view is not in itself an argument. And they have indeed played with the formula. For example in FFX which I'm playing right now there are puzzle sequences at all of the Temples, nevermind the amount of time dedicated to story. The fighting in rpgs is generally a means of progressing the story, part of which includes level building.

Indeed the random fights can get a abit tedious...

So then you agree. Fighting is not the key element of rpgs. It's something formulaic that's been essentially canonized, and could be reduced to make room for more entertaining types of gameplay. So you can't then call rpgs fighting games and say that fighting is what sells em if that's an element of the game that's both annoying and secondary.

Indeed... You can just walk around all nice and normal... Infact, just like you do in the real world... I know that's why I buy GTA based games. To simply walk around the pavements and think "wow this looks like a city."

You didn't understand my point or, as I suggested before, you're being intentionally difficult and just looking for reasons to argue instead of paying attention to what I'm saying. It's not that you can walk around these places that are like the real world. It's that you can walk around these places that are like the real world and commit acts of mass homicide. If you go back and check the posts, I brought up San Andreas as an example of a violent game. I never used San Andreas to show violent games are unpopular or anything else, just as an example of a violent game. You took issue with my saying it has "some degree of realism" and yet now you are agreeing with me that indeed, the enticing factor is the realism I was referring to.

People play these type of games because they can execute hate and rage upon the people in these cities as you said..

Then what is your point? In your previous post you agreed with me on both of the points of mine you brought up (one of which was only a non sequiter from when you took issue with something I said that you later agreed with), while still asserting without further presentation that you're right. That just doesn't make sense to me.

Halo 2? Tasty...... You put yourself up agaisnt Gears of War yet? Very cheeky cheeky number.... Watch out for them berserkers... :( I would never, want to have to face such an enemy..

Another Wii fan eh?... Hmmm.

--edit--

My wife has recently completed Eragon. That game isn't half bad.. Get to ride the dragon, quite a few scenic areas... Not bad graphics.... Lots and lots of combat... And can use magic :O Just like paul daniels!

I received two Gears of War for Christmas so my wife is returning the extra copy and is going to exchange it for Red Steel ( heard wonderful reviews about that game) for the Wii...I familarized myself with Gears of War but am waiting to finish Halo 2 before I begin it in earnest...the Wii is indeed a lot of fun but it is officially my 10 year old daughter's! we have Tony Hawk, Zelda, and Super Monkey Ball Banana Blitz for the Wii but the sports game that came with it is my favorite.

Hey there, gaming types. I have got a question for you all.

When I was a kiddo, I really enjoyed Zelda because of the need to think and puzzle and all of that. There must be games out there now that are similar in that way. Suggestions? Preferably computer, because I'm really not keen on buying some $$ box when I've already got one. :D

Thanks!

I have been playing Elder Scrolls: Oblivion on the PC for ages... But now I got it on the 360 also... I have noticed the console cheats have not been added to the 360 version?

I was battling my way through the gladiator matches....

This ork kicked seven shades of s... poop out of me. And I had to reload (fight to the death) and return back to the arena. My wife... bless her... she tries... Mentioned wouldn't it be a GOOD idea to save just before I enter the arena and the anouncer does the speech... So I did that.... I have no previous saves..... I have also found out, once you sign up to a battle you cannot have a change of heart and leave back down to the bloodworks.... I have fought this ork, 68 times...... And 68 times I have been brought to the dirt. Any advise?.... I doubt there are any oblivion players here... but just incase.....

I am 100% sure there is no god mode.
Is there a health cheat?

If anyone has battle ideas....

Imperial, heavy armor, steel helmet and Iron Claymore.
Vs
Ork, heavy armor, iron full helmet, steel axe.

Won't let me edit my post :\

-post edit-

I believe I have come up with a solution... or a theory. In the PC version you can pause gameplay and change difficulty level.... Can anyone confirm that is possible on the 360 version? If soo.... I can teach that ork a leason... Have at you! :D

I play alot of games, avn't put that in my profile tho... i will. ;)

I play mostly RTS, my faves have been Age of Empires III and Lord of the rings: the battle for middle-earth II. I played AoE3 online but for some reason i cant get online with TBFME2... :(

I also play on my PS2, i have done well on Soul Caliber III and Burnout Revenge. :D

(p.s, i like ur new avatar angel. :p)

Ah my dear dear Mason... Still alive and kicking. :)

Thanks kinda made it myself.... Kinda.

I used to love the AOE range... The third one... Isn't that the one that is kinda based on that other game.. "Rise of nations" Where there are 'territory borders' If that is the series... (I tend to get three of those games mixed up.) I like the second one the best. Where you have the preset campaigns, such as the russian campaign, nice.

Hehe, i dunno that game and no, no borders mate. When they have borders
usually thats more of a Turn-Based Strategy, rite? I don't like those.
But yeah, the second one was good, i bet the graphics are like unbearable to look at now tho, i tried playing Tomb raider 2 like 4 months ago and i couldn't make any'in out but her... awful. :p

Update on my Front Mission 3 (for anybody interested): I'm currently playing Emma' storyline and in the Philippines (been killed five times already trying to escape Taal Lake.) I'll keep at this until I beat the game (or you read my obit online.)

Can you expound on that? I'm a non gamer...occasionally put a quarter in a machine or play for a bit at someones house, but never got into any of them to any extent. (fond memories of pinball, and love to play board games and card games...)
Well, I assume you mean the getting out of college part. I didn't mean getting a degree or something, I just withdrew from college. I didn't have any desire to play in college for whatever reason. I grew up mostly outside of America, so arcades formed a very small part of my life. Personally, I can't stand card or board games, as I don't see the point.

Yeah, sorry it took like 2 months to answer.

I am a hardcore... diehard whatever gamer... Lived and breathed games for like the past 16 years... But Board games are cool... There is a point to them... They are a good thing, gets communication and bonds in the family.. Specially christmas time and so on.. fun. And card games? They kick ass... Easiest way I can make money.

Played Oblivion for awhile.. was fun till I got the creeps from all the occultic themes. Im playing Sims 2 now.. Im enjoying just relaxing and creating. Thinking about trying Vanguard.. Im a die hard Everquest veteran and I miss the beginning of the game and supposedly Vanguards creators are the creators of the original EQ.
