Angels

"Angel" has many levels of meaning in sacred text. The Baha`i Faith recognizes them all. Abdu'l Baha urges us to live our lives so that we are in effect "angelic". It's all the same in the end.

And I saw another angel flying in midheaven, and he had everlasting good news to declare as glad tidings to those who dwell on the earth, and to every nation and tribe and tongue and people, revelation 14;6

" What is this "everlasting good news"? It has to do with what Jesus said would be one of the many evidences that we are living in the last days. At Matthew 24:14 he declared: "And this good news of the kingdom will be preached in all the inhabited earth for a witness to all the nations; and then the end will come."
God’s Kingdom is the heavenly government that will rule over the earth after present human rule is eliminated. (Daniel 2:44; Matthew 6:9, 10) Its King is Christ Jesus, and he has associate rulers with him. (Revelation 14:1-4; 20:4) That Kingdom is the one spoken of at Daniel 7:14 in these terms: "To him there were given rulership and dignity and kingdom, that the peoples, national groups and languages should all serve even him. His rulership is an indefinitely lasting rulership that will not pass away, and his kingdom one that will not be brought to ruin."

Why is the message about Kingdom rule such good news, the very best of news? Because it will bring in a new world, a new framework of human society. Under God’s Kingdom mankind will receive blessings so marvelous that Psalm 37:11 says of those who will live then: "The meek ones themselves will possess the earth, and they will indeed find their exquisite delight in the abundance of peace." Yes, "Jehovah himself will bless his people with peace." (Psalm 29:11) Today, before the Kingdom takes full control of all earth’s affairs, the good news of its permanent, peaceful rule in the hands of the "Prince of Peace" is being preached in all nations. This is being done by God’s earthly servants under the guidance of Christ and the angels.—Isaiah 9:6, 7. yes the faithful angels are working inline with Gods purpose, and they are very busy in this time of the end

Thanks Mee for your post here on the Baha'i Forum...

Actually Baha'is don't believe in the traditional concept of angels that were created as such by God. We accept them as

"Angels are also those holy souls who have severed attachment to the earthly world, who are free from the fetters of self and passion and who have attached their hearts to the Divine Realm and the Merciful Kingdom. They are of the Kingdom, heavenly; they are of the Merciful One, divine. They are the manifestations of the divine grace and the dawns of spiritual bounty."

And

By ‘angels is meant those who, reinforced by the power of the spirit, have consumed, with the fire of the love of God, all human traits and limitations, and have clothed themselves with the attributes of the most exalted Beings….”

“Now is the time for you to divest yourselves of the garment of attachment to this world that perisheth, to be wholly severed from the physical world, become heavenly angels, and travel to these countries. I swear by Him besides Whom there is none other God that each one of you will become an Isráfíl of Life, and will blow the Breath of Life into the souls of others.”

- Baha'u'llah

i think one of the reasons for angels is that if "gods" plan was sent directly to us we would vaporise on the spot, so its a way of dropping down an octave at a time so as not burst our ear drum with the "word". j........

"We see men drunken in this Day, the Day in which men and angels have been gathered together."

- Baha'u'llah in Gleanings XVIII

Art, you think angels would want to mingle with humans?

Alex,

Thanks for your post!

Welcome to the Baha'i Forum.. "Angels" in our sense or meaning are perfected humans so yes they "mingle".. They are not separate from us.

YE ARE THE ANGELS

Verily, I, from this brilliant and Blessed Spot, speak to you face to face, while ye are in that far distant country, saying:

"O people of loyalty, O people of faithfulness, O people who are awakened by the Breath of God, O people who are inhaling the scent of life from the Spirit of God! The path hath become smooth, the way straightened, the carpet of the Kingdom is spread, the Tabernacle hath been elevated upon the Hill of Might, the powers of heaven have been shaken, the corners of the earth have quaked, the sun has been darkened, the moon ceased to give light, the stars have fallen, the nations of the earth have lamented, and the Son of Man hath come upon the clouds of heaven with power and great glory, and He hath sent His angels with the sound of the great trumpet, and no one knows the meaning of these emblems save the wise and informed.

"Ye are the angels, if your feet be firm, your spirits rejoiced, your secret thoughts pure, your eyes consoled, your ears opened, your breasts dilated with joy, and your souls gladdened, and if you arise to assist the Covenant, to resist dissension and to be attracted to the Effulgence! Verily, I say unto you that the Word of God has assuredly been explained and has become an evident sign and a strong and solid proof, and its traces shall be spread in the East and West, and to these all heads shall bow and all souls shall submit and kneel down with their faces to the ground."

~ Abdu'l-Baha, Baha'i World Faith, p. 360

So who told Abdul humans are angels? What authority does this guy have?

Thanks for your question.

His name was Abdu'l-Baha and He was the eldest Son of Baha'u'llah Prophet-Founder of the Baha'i Faith and the Interpretor of His Father's Revelation according to His Father's Will.

Hai.

It just seems amazing that this human gets to make rules... Yet I don't understand on what authority he can do that. Because he is the son of an acclaimed prophet... Seems a bit "meh" of a reason. But ok thanks! :D

You're most welcome!..

Actually Abdul-Baha was simply relaying what Baha'u'llah revealed about Angels so it was not just Abdul-Baha!

Also all the great Prophets and Messengers of God were human and it's through Them we can understand these things in our view.:)

Here's an excerpt from the Kitab-i-Iqan revealed by Baha'u'llah on the subject of Angels..

And now, concerning His words: "And He shall send His angels...." By "angels" is meant those who, reinforced by the power of the spirit, have consumed, with the fire of the love of God, all human traits and limitations, and have clothed themselves with the attributes of the most exalted Beings and of the Cherubim.

~ Baha'u'llah, The Kitab-i-Iqan, p. 78
