Humans. Are They Getting Nicer?

He's not satan, I just scanned his bar code and he is a 6 pack of bars of Irish Spring bath soap, extra strong deodorent control, minty smell, for men.

"Today we are probably living in the most peaceful moment of our species' time on Earth," he writes.

My brother has just come back from Iraq... See if he agrees with that. Alternatively, ask my other brother who is still over there if he feels this is a real peaceful moment for our "species"... *shrugs* There will never be peace we are such a destructive virus it is unreal... I guess the moon is next for destruction once we have finished off this rock. People like this so stuck up their own assholes... Sat behind some desk writing that.. They do not even know the half of it... If you compare it to say one of the World wars.... It is less violent and so on... But it sure as £$!"$ ain't peaceful.

--Edit--
It may not be as bad as the hordes of Kahn, or the world wars, or the crusades or whatever... However, this is just calm before the storm.. It is in our nature to be violent, territorial, material, greedy and so on lol… There will be worse days than this.
maybe this is the wrong thread ,but i agree with you and so does Gods word the bible . 2 timothy 3 1-5
But know this, that in the last days critical times hard to deal with will be here. 2 For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, self-assuming, haughty, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, disloyal, 3 having no natural affection, not open to any agreement, slanderers, without self-control, fierce, without love of goodness, 4 betrayers, headstrong, puffed up [with pride], lovers of pleasures rather than lovers of God, 5 having a form of godly devotion but proving false to its power; and from these turn away.

Humans. Are They Getting Nicer?

No they bloody well are not!!

Yes we bloody well are!! :D

Being nice is contagious. Doesn't mean that bad things cease to exist. We are getting Nicer though!

Slavery is now illegal globally! Kingdom of heaven is on the way, keep praying.

Ok.... maybe on Sundays :)

As we get nicer the life gets easier too.

The Baha'i faith, Core teachings would be progressive revelation, oneness of mankind, oneness of religion. They believe mankind is heading for prosperity, as God never leaves us without guidance. It started off as an Islamic sect by 2 prophets, one that proceeded the other (who they say mirror John the Baptist and Jesus Christ) the latter prophet made it a totally independent faith, core to there teachings is also no political involvement. I think it's an interesting take on things although I'm not a Baha'i.

Baha'is are regarded as the worse religious heretics in the Muslim world but is a religion embraced by the West especially in America and highly regarded by the UN. To many it's still a very obscure religion, I've been investigating it for about 2 years now. I'd say it's at the hight of philosophical or religious understanding and one of the most moral religions today.

Before finding this site I had only vaguely heard of the Baha'is and regarded them as a cult of majority american following. Reading some of the posts here from the Baha'is I found a lot of cut and pasting that is the hallmark of cult worship, well at least it seems so to me. I just posted on another thread that you cant be all things to all peoples. This is my perception of what Baha'is attempt. As my belief falls strongly on the side that many 'holy' books are first and foremost political tools any group that wants to use them all becomes immediately suspicious. To be honest it gives me the creeps, but I dont quite know why, just my gut instinct. Its leadership is highly suspect, hereditary and nepotistic, something that only adds weight to its cult-like aura. I also find their web sites creepy and culty. I can see how easily liberal humanitarians could fall for their line tho....they seem so 'nice', but I dont buy it.

It's a possibility, that’s what I've been looking into, I know that all religions have cult like behaviours to extents, always something to be cautions of. I had all out massive debats with Baha'is on this forum. Came to the point I thought the religion was a some kind of Western plot. There is something quite sane about the theology though, Anything organised is going to attract cult like behaviour, Baha'is I think extend the boundries of morality either way.

I can certainly say that some aspects of religion are organised by humans. Scientology and JW probably might spring to mind.

In my honest opinion the prophets of the Baha'i faith, the Bab and Bahaullah were mystics. There’s 2 things you can't take away from the Baha'i faith and that’s its mysterious development and its theology. Baha'is are pretty down to earth and there are some Baha'i authors who have covered the definition of cults and if the Baha'i faith has any tendencies. It is a modern religion, as with anything new it will come across suspicious and quite weird. I'm not here to proselytize any how, I'm not a Baha'i and do appreciate any opinions.

Tao its hereditary line was something I looked into cautiously. If you look at Christianity it was James the brother of Jesus who was intending to continue the faith. Bahaullah Son spent most of his youth (life I think) in jail with his father due to there beliefs, that line of hereditary guardianship is broken today.

The comparative nature of religion is used by Atheists to disprove religion altogether. However this very same comparative nature in religion is used in a theological way in the Baha'i faith. Which makes you wonder if Atheists withdraw from the grips of mainstream religion because they are actually on to something.

I was at a Museum yesterday and found that we use a much bigger part in our brain for religion even compared to love, lanaguage and everything else..

Imo, theist religions are just the 'opiate' of those who want to devolve responsiblilty onto an invisible entity, they are people, by and large, unable to think for themselves.

Like I say, that is just my view and my experience.

If you shift a responsibility unto purely human minds and take away a divine plan or deity, that seems to be an 'opiate' of those who have a controlling maybe even destructive nature. Personally I think monothiestic conception as ancient as is it, will grow and develop further.

What museum was this?...do they have an online link to this info?...did they provide any references?...inquiring minds want to know...

Dear Wil
I am the Resident Scientist here at Thinktank, the Birmingham science museum in the UK. Thank you very much for your interest in one of our exhibits. The matter in question arises from an exhibit that shows which parts of the brain are involved in different processes. In this case, it shows that the temporal lobes are involved in religious or spiritual thought. Rather than suggesting that religious thought requires a lot of brain power or uses more of the brain, it simply highlights that different parts of the brain are involved in different thought patterns. The reason for any possible misunderstandings is that the temporal lobes are quite large structures and therefore look like more of the brain is being used during religious thought.
I have attached a link below for a light hearted introduction to one of the ways that we know this, by an eminent neurologist.

I am sorry for any confusion that this may have caused and I thank you for contacting us regarding your question.
With very best wishes
