Ok, then say... You saw someone else... They lacked confidence, self-respect.... Strength and power.... He isn't a man of god... He isn't "righteous" However, in this situation... Rebel Soldiers have entered the area from the west; they have heard and noticed movement in this building wreck... They are on a search and destro... Sorry On a sweep and clean... This person with no self-respect.... Is there with his true love, his wife.... He sacrifice's himself to face whatever is to happen to save his wife.... But, he has no self-respect... He has love..... Wouldn't that be a possible situation?

Wouldn't the key thing be Love... Not confidence or respect or divine righteousness......

Good question. The Bible has a simple but profound answer.

GOD SAID, "Greater love hath no man, than he who would lay his life down for his friends".

God also said. "Faith, Hope and Love, these three, but the GREATEST of these is LOVE.

Love is the great equalizer in life. If we love, then paupers become as important as kings...

a soldier's love for his home and people, is one of the greatest loves on earth...don't ever forget that.

I would agree with that, if you have at least love for another, or respect for another, you do not need to have love or respect for yourself, you find this intense amount of willpower to to triumph even if that means self sacrafice....

Except that, love is contagious. When one begins to love another, that love splashes back on the one (totally accidental, but effective none the less).

Love does some great things. It makes us shine. It toughens the exterior while softening the interior. It feeds the soul and soothes the heart. It does have some drawbacks however, but nothing that can't be handled.

What drawbacks? It awakens the conscience, and makes people aware of others and past deeds. It makes us want to fix things we might have broken. It gives us resolve.

And yes, it gives us the capacity to put ourselves in harm's way, for another. (that is potentially detrimental). But it makes everything worth it.

To be loved and to love, for one second, is worth an entire life time.

Pony up soldier! You got a whole life ahead of you. And love to discover...man, are you gonna be busy... (lol):D :D :D

Q one more thing...

Humble. I may have a major misunderstanding of this word. To be humble, isn't that to have less self-respect, love for oneself?

god wishes for one to be humble/meek right? But then there looking at number four... Courteously respectful? Hmmm I dunno.... Nevermind maybe barking up the wrong tree here.

I think you have to contrast the word humble with pride:

"A man's pride shall bring him low: but honour shall uphold the humble in spirit." - Psalm 29:23

Humility to me has nothing to do with self-effacement. It's not about sniveling and bowing down to "superiors." Humility is a feeling you get when everything slides into perspective and you realize that it's not you, not your little ego, running the show. Then--boom!! Holy Crap man!! You can recognize that great forces are at work, powerful forces, wild ones, not to be controlled--humbling forces, mind-blowing. It's not to do with a relationship between people, but with the relationship of individual self and the Greater Scheme of Things. And at the same time and by the same token, realizing that the small self of the individual--you--is a wiggle in the operation of this Great Force. Beautiful Thing. And so it has not to do with self-effacement and all to do with self-respect. This self-respect is in perspective, though; the perspective of being a giggle, a wild action in this Great Scheme, of being a wiggle in the divine play of the universe. Inneffable unfathomablity!!! Ah, humility.

:)

Little? My ego be big!

yes, it sounds lovely, pathless, but...

to me... I'm the zaphod beeblebrox type... what in the world is more important to me than me?

absolutely nothing...

who creates my world? me...

what happens when u wake up and BOOM! it really IS just u and ur little ego running the show?

ah, grandiosity..

of course, one then has to suffer the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune, but the occasional crippling criticisms and the seemingly global conspiracy to drag u down and debase u only makes it more worthwhile...

how great it is to realise how much power u have as an individual, how great it is to be able to enthrall an audience, to stir up a crowd, to summon the Gods, to quell the rains, to feel the power of the universe coursing through ur veins...
