.. the Virgin Mary is really the reincarnation of Isis, according to the ancient Mayan prophesy that was retroactively revealed to Egyptian priests and laid down in Zoroastrian literature...
But then I would have never known that anyone thought that....is it wrong to enjoy the tangents?

Seriously, ask away. All I'm saying is that when some asks a simple question about the Virgin Mary, and then someone who claims to represent Christainity reponds off tangent that the Virgin Mary is really the reincarnation of Isis, according to the ancient Mayan prophesy that was retroactively revealed to Egyptian priests and laid down in Zoroastrian literature, I get rather annoyed, ya know? So then I have to unscramble all that and try to give a straight answer, which is what they were seeking in the first place.

You mean all that stuff isn't true? But I read on the Buddhist forum that the Virgin Mary reincarnated from the seventh astral plane in the guise of Vishnu, the bodhisattva of DH Lawrence.

Now I'm all confused again.

really? who are the LDS, YECs and SDAs? i've never noticed them!

Good thread bb, and many good points made. :)

We've had LDS members (briefly) in the past, and should any join again they will be included in the Christianity forum, as are JWs (and rightly so IMO). Young Earth Creationist is not really a denomination, but I mean it to indicate Christians who mainly approach the Bible in a literal-factual manner and so would, for example, reject evolution out of hand, even though the Catholic Church and many mainstream Protestant churches are quite open to accepting evolution. These are fringe views in Christianity for various reasons. I have an approach to Christianity dialogue and fellowship like that of you and Dauer for Judaism, there are areas of disagreement but we all follow Christ.

I think that liberal Christians, even those moreso than myself, should also be included in the Christianity forum. They simply represent a different end of the fringe.

Never thought about this before but it seems to make sense. Hmmm...

Perhaps different religious beliefs are all like different rivers and tributaries trickling, weaving and meandering towards the sea and eventually connecting in a vast ocean. They may seem far away and unconnected, yet ultimately are a whole.

Yes.. If Jesus is the sea :) That is the common denominator.

You know I would not mind that a bit.
After all it was a "liberal" that wanted a seperate board of course she ran off and let soon after.
I have no problem with everyone in Christianity just do not freak out when I call the "christians" that do not believe in Christ exactly what I think they are.(I know you hate that h word)

Thinking...

My answer would be similar to FS (only saving name, etc).

How other sheep are saved through His name, I don't know yet.

I'm sad to see that not much has changed here. The problem, it seemed to me, was that several individuals insisted that their brand of Christianity was defacto. I see that's still the case. For myself, I will continue to avoid the Christianity board. I don't need the hassle. Chris

No, no, that wasn't the Virgin Mary, that was the Virgin Alice. Don't mix them up.

Hey, welcome back, China Cat!

I'm not espousing my personal Jesus here. This is biblical, historic, traditional, mainstream Christianity.

Hey Dondi! You're making good points here. I guess what I don't understand is why the topic Christianity shouldn't include anything related to Christianity. Why does there need to be a special safe zone where orthodoxy (your definition) holds unquestioned preeminence? Chris

Chris.. why are you so upset?

We arent making you believe what we believe.. we cant make you believe any of it all we are doing is saying that this is the truth that has been revealed to us.

All this stuff about not stepping into Christianity ... do you really think that is some major statement? Like boycotting Walmart.. seriously one person boycotting Walmart is not a big deal.. Just like Christianity.. everyone shows up there because thats where all the drama takes place. One person boycotting Christianity is not going to affect the drama.. Right? :)

So c'mon relax and hang out.. ;)

Hi FS. I told Quahom I would never again post to Christianity. He has to release me. You really didn't like it when I was there before, what's different now?
