the 2nd day...

hey dondi,
ok, let me rephrase, it's not the 2nd day being called good that concernes me, as so much as the heaven not being called good, you know?
In carefully reading the text, I actually do see where God calls the second day good. Verses 6-10 seems to be all one topic, namely the separation of the waters, either from other waters or from dry land. It was at verse 10 that He calls all that good.
i see what you mean, dondi, but the 2nd day and the 3rd day are distinctly separated on verses 8 and 13.

Maybe it just in the structuring of the verses, but if you count all the "goods" you'll see that they add up to six. Then when God surveyed it all, He proclaimed it all "very good" in verse 31, completing creation.
1st day: light, good. that's 1.
2nd day: heaven....
3rd day: the formation of the land and seas, good. that's 2. then the land produced vegetation, good. that's 3.
4th day: the formation of stars, sun, and moon, good. that's 4.
5th day: the formation of water creatures and flying creatures, good. that's 5.
6th day: creatures that move along the ground, good. that's 6. man formed,"...And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good."that's 7.
7th day: Genesis 2 And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made. And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made.
now something occured to me yesterday when i was reading Genesis, heaven was formed on the 2nd day but wasn't procaimed good, yet, right? well, look how big heaven is to begin with. it wasn't proclaimed good because he wasn't done with heaven until afterwards, specifically at the end of the 6th day. am i prosetilyzing, yet? if so, let me know, thanks.
God bless you.

So where does that 'good' go in verse 10? Which day?

Perhaps verses 9 and 10 have something to do with bringing heaven down to earth, and that was good. (Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done, on Earth as it is in Heaven)

Maybe it was just a bad day for him? Just cause your an almighty perfect so an so... that doesn't mean you won't have bad days...... Or Maybe on the 2nd day he wasn't being as much of a perfectionist as he normally is... I find it in seriousness interesting though and dissapointed that I didn't notice that....

hi dondi,

its for the land and sea, proclaiming it good on the 3rd day.

you know, dondi, you raise a very interesting point here because i see the whole Genesis account as prophecy, both literally and symbolic. God bless you, man.

So this is what you've been waiting for, man needed to be in Heaven?? What on the 6th day pertained to heaven?

...and what do you think the being that never rests complete on the 7th day before He rested?

hi dondi,
its for the land and sea, proclaiming it good on the 3rd day.

So there are two goods for day 3? Must have been a very doubly good day.

I am finding that prospect interesting myself. Need to look into this.

i see the whole Genesis account as prophecy
Gen 1 has sometimes been described as prohetic for Gen 2, in other circles I've heard that Gen 1 was thought and Gen 2 manifestation which allowed for the differences between the two.

Are you seeing both Gen 1 and Gen 2 as prophetic? I'm assuming you mean prophetic as in the coming of the Christ, or could it also be seen as not actual manifestation but allegorical prophecy of evolution?

hi wil,
So this is what you've been waiting for, man needed to be in Heaven?? What on the 6th day pertained to heaven?
ok, i know you may be confused so here we go. the whole thread started because God didn't proclaim heaven as good. in other words He wasn't done with it yet. if you notice at the end of the 6th day:
Genesis 1:31 And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good. And the evening and the morning were the sixth day.
so he didn't complete heaven until the end of the 6th day when he proclaimed everything good.
...and what do you think the being that never rests complete on the 7th day before He rested?
you ready? heaven and earth. in the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. everything in other words.

wil,
Gen 1 has sometimes been described as prohetic for Gen 2, in other circles I've heard that Gen 1 was thought and Gen 2 manifestation which allowed for the differences between the two.
ok, from what i have read in the bible, Genesis 1 is a summary of ALL of God's creation. again, a summary. then it jumps to Genesis 2, the actual details of the story. formation of adam, fall of man, etc.

Are you seeing both Gen 1 and Gen 2 as prophetic?
i see the whole bible as prophetic. nothing is trivial. everything has a prophetic meaning. what i do is chew my food instead of just swallowing it. do you know what i mean?
I'm assuming you mean prophetic as in the coming of the Christ, or could it also be seen as not actual manifestation but allegorical prophecy of evolution?
i mean prophetic like we are actually living during God's creation process. He isn't done yet making us in Christ's image, godlike if you will, for we will be Children of the Most High.
God bless you.

you ready? heaven and earth. in the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. everything in other words.
No the question is...on the seventh day HE COMPLETED and then rested...what work do you think He did on the sabbath?
wil,

yeah but it gets a little tricky as the order of events is different with your actual details than the summary...that is why I thought you were getting at one being prophetic
i see the whole bible as prophetic. nothing is trivial. everything has a prophetic meaning. what i do is chew my food instead of just swallowing it. do you know what i mean? i mean prophetic like we are actually living during God's creation process..
I'm with you there my brother, on one level our autobiography is already written and every situation in our lives can be found in the pages of that book!
He isn't done yet making us in Christ's image, godlike if you will, for we will be Children of the Most High.
We are also on the same page on the becoming the image...G-dlike, Christlike...it is upto us to walk the walk...G-d does for us what G-d does thru us!
