Oil is one of my favourites.... You can make such stunning images, where when looking upon them you see the colours clash into one another and then softly blend.. I also like the texture of oils.... And the mess :D

I haven't ever had the opportunity to try oils, but I really would like to. I have acrylics (they were a gift) and I have been staring at an almost finished painting for nigh on three years now, lol. I like it, but it needs something. I am pretty comfortable with pens and pencils, so I am thinking about looking into paint pens. Hmmm...I don't really know what I am doing, but I enjoy it. I'd like to post it, but I guess I need to finish it first, huh? And then I would need to take a picture, find a scanner, figure out how to make the whole thing fit. I might even use it as an avatar. But I just know that it will not look the same in the light of the computer screen, so then I would need to modify it. I wonder if a plain old paint program would work for that purpose....

P.S. Oh, and I love the slug!

Angel,

Everytime I see the title to this thread, I think of this ....and the album art there right beside the lyrics just happens to be the inspiration for the painting I told you about. And here is that artist's gallery --pretty interesting stuff. (Browsing by year works well; just start where you land and keep clicking the first little arrow.) Just thought you might enjoy it if you haven't already seen it. :)

Would look forward to seeing that, a basic paint programme say for example Windows: Paint will not offer you such details but there are a few free softwares such as Paint.NET (software name not website) or GIMP (I hate this programme. lol.) But I guess it has options to modify texture/light in a basic way, but it is a far more complex part of software than it need be... Failing that Always my top recommendation is Adobe Photoshop Elements .5 ;)

17th I am chuffed to Naffi breaks. Have put this as my screen saver, I just love it - thank you so much.

Want to hear something really wierd....the first time I said I had no artistic ability I had actually typed "I have the artistic ability of a slug" but I deleted the word slug as I think slug trails can be really pretty. Wallah I am not just saying that because the pic has a slug. Can you read minds 17th?

Wish it was true though, am trying to design a logo for my new website and everything I show people they just shake their heads and suggest I give up.

You love it? My gratitude

Trying to design a logo eh?

What is your company/website all about?

And what colour scheme you using?....

Nothing is ever boring... I'll come up with some samples, if you like any their yours.. :)

Thank you so much, have PM'd you the details. Really 17th you need to get your art out there, I know you don't do it for money or praise but I love going to galleries and can say without hesitation your work is good enough to be shown in galleries (in fact better than a lot I have seen). I am now back in the UK for a while and have shown your blue wings to everyone I know, as I truly love them and all agree they are brilliant. I may not have any artistic ability but I do have some ability to create businesses if you decide to go down that road just yell if you need any help - even if you just want to offer your work to charities and community projects for free.

Is there any way I could get an electronic image of the blue wings with good enough quality for them to be blown up by a photoshop to about 6 feet? I would love to have that one in my home, it really 'speaks' to me. And you said you can't do wings - silly man :p:D

Thanks, Angel. It looks like I have print shop right now, but I don't know how to use it. Might that work for starters? (Goes off to explore the possibilities....J.H., are you reading this? Can you help me?)

Print shop? By Brøderbund? That is old skool lol... I cannot honestly remember much about it.... I can remeber it was pretty basic, on the "Deluxe" Version I am sure you can do minor light editing but I cannot really recall on just Print shop... Can you go into any options such as EDIT/ADJUSTMENTS/SETTINGS ?

I would really appreciate this 17th, I am realy so taken with the picture.

I'll get on it.

Yeah. That's it. I'd forgotten, and honestly right now, it has some problems anyway. I think maybe we have a licensing issue there. Anyway, it's okay for making greeting cards and CD covers, but not much else. I think my husband has got a bunch of stuff on here that I might learn about. He's done some mini-movies and things like that. I'll get back to you. I know I'm going to have some questions later. First, I need some paint pens or something. The magic markers here and the White-Out on the desk are starting to look good to me. :D I don't drive right now, so I gotta get someone to listen to me. I need some supplies! I want a gift card or something. If J.H. is not reading, I know that one of my dear daughters might be lurking around. Hint. Hint. :)
