Indeed, El Grecko - so it would be fitting if you didn't see fit to criticise other members. We have a Code of Conduct here and it is expected that members observe it.

No problem - every new place requires some adjusting to. :)

The man who played Jesus is an amazing actor I think. Not many people can do what he did in this movie. Now he is going on to play legendary golfer Bobby Jones in a new movie. I wonder if people can look past him as Jesus. But I am sure he will do great in the Bobby role, seeing as how it seems he can do anything great.

Bubba,

He was so bloody by the end of the movie, I don't know if I would recognize him.

The movie was interesting. It was art if anything. Gibson made Satan look like Marilyn Manson. Would have been more interseting if Manson had played the role. God showed his disapproval by striking the actor playing Jesus with a lightning bolt.

Jesus at the end was almost comical. He had holes in his hands the size of a half dollar without any scratches on him. Maybe Gibson thought we would not being paying attention.

Simon of Cyrene? When did he become a Jew? The NT never states he was. I also assumed he wasn't since he named one of his kids after Alexander the Great who conquered Judea.

Crucifixion? Gibson makes sure we see it from all angles- including one from under the cross. Is this overkill? Also the beating of Jesus- don't worry if you miss a stroke Gibson gives you an instant replay in slow motion. It could have been a 90 minute flick. The one scene where the hook of catches Jesus in the side and pulls out a piece of flesh- ouch. I shouted out in the theater "That will leave a mark."

Some of the flashback scenes were great- such as when Jesus stumbled-others got in the way. It seems with the criticism made of the movie- Gibson went back and shot extra scenes of Jesus and inserted them.

I didn't like the Passion because it concentrated too much on the suffering of Jesus and not his message from the Sermon of Mount which I consider the cornerstone of Christianity. I know many will disagree and talk about salvation etc., but in reality his death doesn't change how we live- it is not a moral guide. The music to "Jesus Christ Superstar" played in my mind the whole time. Herod was gay in this movie too.

John the apostle was a weasel looking thing. The Peter denial scene I thought was excellent.

Pilate was done well. The Bible story in itself is not very convincing of Pilate's character. Gibson made him more believable.

And what was the scene with Mary and Mary cleaning up the blood after his scourage?

And wasn't there 3 Mary's at the crucifixion? Mary's sister Mary was also there according to John. She wasn't there according to Mel.

As I recall, "Simon" was the name of one of Jacob's sons (at least after a bit of mutation) as well as Peter's given name. Could you help me here?

Haha, that is a good point. But have you seen him in Frequency or Thin Red Line? You can recognize him there for sure.

Nope, I've not seen him there.

You must check out Bobby Jones, then. I'm sure this will be a great example of his acting abilities.

Hmm.... What did the actor who played jesus actually do, that was worth commenting on?

He talked Hebrew and did a small bit of walking... Alot of getting his ass beat... apart from that... There wasn't really that much to applaud his acting skills......

Nice film though, I do enjoy watching it.

Is it a bug on forum?

Hey guys, is it me or this forum got bugs?
I tried to login 3 times and it gave me this error: Unable to connect MYSQL
what's going on? :( anyone?

I felt the movie was "g-double O" good.
I did not pay a dime to watch it though.

My personal favorite scene was when Judas was getting his ass kicked by those group of little kids. I laughed for a long time on that one. I had to rewind that scene several times before I stopped laughing. Those kids reminded me of some of the gang of kids that used to run in my neighborhood. There's nothing more comical than watching a person getting his ass kicked by a gang of ten and eleven year old boys.
Especially if he or she deserves it. :D

The rest of the movie I thought was very good and thought provoking too. We need more movies that do not "suger coat" subject matter like that.

My personal favourite scene, was when they went to the strip bar... I can't imagine why they cut that out of the final film. ;\
