Need advice about a dog

This is the wierd thing Q, Tara is very well behaved and knows her place. She sits beside the coach and won't come up unless I say she can. She then jumps up and her tail goes ten to the dozen and we have a hug. Then for no reason she starts scratching at my face and then snaps with her mouth. Sometimes she gets very nasty, she rolls over to get her tummy rubbed but thn all of a sudden the lip turns up and she snaps at me. She has never bitten anyone yet, so assume it is a warning but obviously we worry she will really bite one day.

It isn't an action like a puppy, she isn't trying to get food from my mouth. It is usually my eyes she goes for. I do wish I could work out what she is trying to communicate because she is such a sweetie at heart.
 
Gday All again, Yeah Flow you have a beaut little hen there. pity about the feather plucking. We havent had any feather pluckers amongst our birds but after talking to some breeders ive come to the conclusion that she is fine. Look, if you are giving her heaps of attention (which ;you are) and she is otherwise healthy andhappy then this is a behavious she has had for a while and that is probably more distressing for us (to see her) than actually for her. Keep her warm when she needs it. give her all the proper food andvitamins that she requires and she will be fine. When she regrows her feathers (if at all) spray her for mites) perhaps buy a jacket for her (unless she would eat it). Id only worry if she denies food or water or is left to the elements. People I know who have bought companion birds for feather pluckers have ended up having the companion bird plucked as well. LOL. Thats just my 2 cents worth. Give her a big kiss for me. love the Grey
 
I was thinking about this, and wondered... have u had a stroke? or do u have epilespy? some dogs can sense a fit before their masters have one, and often paw them... they even train dogs to do this, too... just a random thought

....lol, "pawing" is a -demand- for attention... Not a stroke detecting system :D
 
Hi Francis

No I am perfectly healthy (which is a huge surprise considering my lifestyle :o). She does it to everyone she feels confident with.

I think I shall have to find a way to video it and put it on the web, then 17th can tell me what she is doing and maybe how to stop it.

She really is a good girl, she will wait to be invited up on the sofa, doesn't snatch food but every now and again she will bite your hand when you offer food. When you tell her off she looks so miserable and hides her head. There just doesn't seem to be a pattern of behaviour, she is more mood driven than any dog I have ever seen.
 
Video footage would be great.... I can understand their language... Every slight movement and act is a communication, obviously we most of the time fail to catch these communication attempts, I have even gone so far to even see that humans do the -same- thing.... Watching "celebrity sicssorhands..." That is just like a dog pack, they were all crazy, all over the place a mess, behaving badly on purpose demanding each others attention getting aggressive shouting all that... Then you had Lee Stafford... Didn't blink an eye, was calm, cool, watched every single thing they did, he fixed everything and helped/supported the others even when they were being butt holes... He never once lost his cool, always kept eye to eye contact with everyone staring right through their eyes, he moved in the right manner strong and confident, yet waiting back there in the shadows, and eventually they all behaved learnt the lessons and followed him around like lap dogs... The pack accepted an Alpha male..... It is fun observing human body language lol...

I think CR is getting a bit full up with deity type people, we now have almighty god, satan's apprentice, angels, prophets ...... where will it end?
 
Oh I will go and buy those new shoes then, pointless saving money now :p
