I can recall a few stories in the Bible where someone possessed by a demon willingly coming up to Jesus then saying something along the lines of "Why are you tormenting me, Son of God?" Well something similar happened to me two days ago.

I was getting off the BART (a subway system throughout the Bay Area in California) in San Francisco, and had a lot of stuff with me. I put my ticket through the slot in the station and exit. Right after I drop my stuff and put my ticket in my wallet. While I'm doing that some lady behind me goes through then stands next to me and says something, sounding rather upset (I wasn't paying attention, she didn't make eye contact to me or anything so I assumed she was talking to this little girl near by). So I ignored her and went up the stairs to wait for my ride.

A few min. alter she comes up the stairs and starts getting mad at me again, this time sounding more upset. I ignored her again because I was on the phond and because I knew hadn't done anything (I had never seen her before until 2 min. prior).

She then goes up to a few guys standing near by and points to me and accuses me of 'tormenting' her (well she may not have used that exact word but it was something like that). One of the guys goes up to me with her and the both are pretty pissed of at this point. I asked the lady what I did and she just says "You know what you did!" The more I asked what bothered her the more pissed both of them get. The lady then says "You were getting all spiritual with that witch-craft."

Now, while I was on the BART I was catching up on some reading in these books I have where they have a Bible quote for each day of the year and then the author talks about the quote some. I figured she saw me reading that and was upset about that, so I said "...was I reading something?..." she just said "no" and started rambling angrily about how much I pissed her off or something like that.

At that point I was afraid I was gonna get jumped so I just apologized and walked into a near-by restaurant to wait for my ride.

It was a rather frightening experience and I could practically feel their hatred for me.

I can feel your consternation in this incident. If it were me, I think my curiosity would have bettered me and I would have stuck around to try and discern what exactly she was upset about. What she accused you of is rather vague. I would want to know the connection of what reading a book of bible quotes has to do with witchcraft. Bizarre anyway, but you were in San Francisco, so there you have it.

and of course, the incident may not have even been about you- perhaps the woman was mentally ill, or perhap she had alzheimers and you reminded her of a friends' son, or her own grandchild... if you hadn't have walked by then, maybe somebody else would have that experience instead...?

I spent a week on vacation in San Francisco. You were on the BART. That's your answer right there. Seriously.

In 1987 I was walking towards the Federal building in Seattle from the parking garage on Alaskan Way South, when a pleasant looking middle aged woman passed me on the sidewalk. She initially smiled at me as we passed, but then whirled on me and let me have it with metaphors and curses I've never heard before. Stunned to say the least, I listened to her tirade for about 30 seconds. She identified me as a Christian (though I was in a three piece suit, and toting a 9MM semi auto under my jacket), and cursed me, my unborn children, family, etc. And she became animatedly agressive...(bad situation to be in).

I simply said to her "In Jesus' name, be gone". (it was the only thing I could think of, and she was making a public spectacle of our encounter). Pico, she stopped mid sentence, looked confused and walked away...I told my boss, who chuckled and stated that God uses such encounters to show us the power He has bestowed within us, but it only works when we let Him manifest it.
