Nice one, smart ass, but you know that's not what I meant.
Ok, what did you mean?Nice one, smart ass, but you know that's not what I meant.
Alex, if you can think of all the attributes that God would have for which you would be grateful, then isn't it only natural that you would also seek more so to have those attributes yourself?
Durpa durpa durpa?
Give a man a fish...Uh,yea... that's what I said...
Divinization/theosis...to be more like God?
Hehehe!Give a man a fish...
...teach him to fish, then DUCK!
yes that can be quite true ,I'm me, not god. So I will differ in traits to god..![]()
Hi, Alex. Are you the same person you were just five years ago? How about ten years ago? How about twenty years ago? Do you act the same way today as the person you were twenty years ago? If you act the same way today as the person you were twenty years ago, does that make you a copycat? What kind of person do you want to be five years from now? Ten years from now? Twenty years from now? Will the following guidelines for transformation help you to become the person you would like to be? (I see a pretty strong parallel to Buddhist thought here)I'm me, not god. So I will differ in traits to god.. How about you just read my post and take it as it is?I am asking how the hell that gets me a relationship acting like another? This doesn't change the fact he to me seems to have a lack of presence, and that just trying to copy cat god isn't good enough for a foundation for me to base a relationship on, anyway not going to add any more to the first reply... So take it for what it is or isn't.

Of course you have different traits than God. We all fail. On the other hand, I think seattle is on the right track. You are looking at yourself in the present moment, which is what I suggested you do. "Just as I am", the song goes. You come as you are, but as you look into the face of God, something will happen. Change is dynamic. Relationships are dynamic. But the attributes of God do not change, especially the Love of God (Literally thank God for that!). So what needs changing? Ourselves. We are going to change in some form or fashion with or without God's influence. But we will either move toward the Divine Ideal, or away from it.
It isn't about just being a copycat. The I Peter passage is basically that old adage: "Sow an act and you reap a habit. Sow a habit and you reap a character. Sow a character and you reap a destiny." Yeah, it will seem weird to do something different. We feel out of place, sorta hypocritical, because it doesn't seem like us. Conforming to His image means becoming the best Me that I can be. Becoming the best Alex P that you can be. Being what God intended me to be. We are sacrificing ourselves in order to get back the Ideal.
If you don't see a need to change, then don't. But I say to you that the sacrifice is worth it.
"Draw near to God and He will draw near to you."
Come to God just as you are, let Him speak in your conscience, He will tell you what you need for your life, and as you listen, then you will know His Presence. He has a pretty big lap.
Talking to the Romans, Paul is arguing that the love that was for Israel in abstract is also for individuals of all nations who believe upon God. You asked how such abstract love applies to us, since you cannot love that which you have no concept of. First, the love of God is illustrated by a marriage of Israel to God. That love endures forever, because he loves Israel from the end to the beginning. In addition to that, Paul is saying, we have Jesus.Alex said:Romans:8:38 For I am convinced that neither death nor life nor angels nor governments nor things now here nor things to come nor powers 39 nor height nor depth nor any other creation will be able to separate us from God’s love that is in Christ Jesus our Lord....Matthew:22:37 He said to him: “‘You must love Jehovah your God with your whole heart and with your whole soul and with your whole mind.....John:15:12 This is my commandment, that YOU love one another just as I have loved YOU.....
... But, I personally cannot love that which I have no concept of, I mean, where is god? How can I love that which isn't present?
....1 Peter:4:8 Above all things, have intense love for one another, because love covers a multitude of sins.
I am asking how the hell that gets me a relationship acting like another?
