So, how 'bout them [insert home team here]?

This thread is about the weather. Talk about how great the weather is today, grumble about how bad the weather is today, tease others because the weather in your area is more to your liking than theirs or express your wish that your weather was as nice as someone else's. Please, no serious meteorological discussion. I will start.

The weather's been pretty crazy in the Boston area. We've had a lot of thunder and lightning lately. I've heard from some friends on the West coast that they were getting a lot of that not so long ago. It's a rainy day today. I kinda like rain but not when my plans get rained out. *grumble grumble* I guess you folks in the UK must be used to rain. It's times like this I wish I was in Hawaii. Of course then I wouldn't have such distinct seasons. I could never leave New England, cept maybe for work or love or a vacation, or if it got singled out for an attack by mutant sardines. That wouldn't be fun assuming the sardines were a real threat. If they weren't a real threat it'd probably be amusing.
Temperature is 79 with relative humidity at 50%. Light rain expected for part of the night, but clears up by morning, only to repeat tomorrow night. Six degrees cooler than normal here this time of year, but no one is complaining a bit. Water table is full, and the woods are very green. It's a great summer day in the DC area. :D

dauer,

foam mats? i didn't know they made those. or that they even worked. hmmm. i'll keep that in mind. i take it you love the outdoors? didn't peg you as an outdoors person. people here at cr are full of surprises. then again, people over the net usually are...

Leo,

the foam mats were to prevent the sleeping bags from getting wet or dirty and to offer a little additional padding. We were out there for a week or so. It was fun. Canoe out to a site, unpack for the night, pack up in the morning and return the site to its original condition.

yes I adore the outdoors. I love going hiking off in the woods. I really dislike living in the city right now because I'm so disconnected from natural settings. When I'm in the woods I tend to go up to individual trees and rocks so excited, just soaking them in. It fills me with such awe and wonder. I sometimes fantasize about living somewhere deep in Maine. Just think analytical ultra-liberal hippie vegan Jew and I'm sure your assumptions about me will be much closer than those you previously held.

you know what dauer? sorry, bro. i thought the foam mats were to prevent lightning strikes. that they provide insulation to prevent the lightning to reach ground since that is what lightning is always looking to do.

i have never gone camping in my life but i will at least once before i die. i've always wanted to be an old hermit secluded from civilization living in an old cabin up in the woods. that would be such a simple life to me. i have to agree with you that city life sucks, if that's what you meant. the traffic is horrendous and the people are just living the fast life. maybe its different in boston. i don't know.

i actually thought you were a ultra nerd that lived glued to his computer screen day and night playing dungeons and dragons with his nerdy friends. at least i was right about you being jewish! duuuuuugh!

Leo,

we did use them for insulation against electricity, but that was not their intended purpose.

And you got the nerd part right, just not the rest of it! xD

I got vitamin D deficiency last winter since I never saw the light of day for about 3 months. Fun fun.
You have to eat some salmon during the winter around here to counter that. Balance the salmon with either dried cherries or cherry juice to be nice to your kidneys. ;)

Go Gators! Season opening game today, first time playing Hawaii, at home in the Swamp.

Yay Cowboys!

Of course, it's too bad it was the Raiders that lost. The Raiders aren't all bad...even won a Superbowl or two.

Gators beat Hawaii, forget the score now, something like 24 to 10. Gators play Miami Hurricanes this Saturday, only happens every six years or so they say. Gators haven't won in a long time against this rival...we'll see. Gotta motivate that Heiseman trophy winner!
