If you look up virtually every Biblical translation, you will find that John stated upon seeing Jesus at the baptism,
"Behold, the lamb of God who comes to take away the sin of the world!"

"Sin", in the singular. Not, "sins".

Has anyone speculated on this? And, what is the, "sin of the world"?

Sin is an act of breaking a religious law, or such acts considered together

i.e. 'Sin' can be used in the general sense, for example "Jesus is free of sin". which obviously means all sins.

Same with the quote.

Hi Craz.
Perhaps.

If you go over and look at the "Alternatives" forum, you'll see I've been posting in the "Matrixism as a Religion" thread.

I've stated that Adam, pre Fall was not like us, since after the Fall.
Speaking with respect to our organic situation, with our whole other past in this world from the lower lifeforms.
St. Paul referred to Adam, in 1 Corinthians, as "the first man", and Jesus as "the last man".
Indicating they were of the same nature.

The original earth was different, and with a different environment.
People have surmised that Adam and Eve glowed, pre Fall, as Jesus did on the Mt. of Transfiguration in the Gospels. And, with respect to Moses face after visiting with the Lord.
St. Paul had said that, " the love of money is the root of all evil". He was right of course.
However, the "survival instinct" which we share with every other creature on the planet, along with ego are the real causes of misery in the world.
Perhaps St. Paul wasn't being objective enough. Understandably.
So then, it seems that a timeline change occurred after the Fall, resulting in our present organic situation. This may be what John was saying, with respect to the devil's temptation in the Garden. Resulting in this timeline change, and our organic situation.

Lol everyone knows what you have been hyping...

We see you on your milk crate preaching...

Has anyone suggested your look at the code of conduct regarding proselytizing lately?

I think that is now the most prevalent book cover seen on this site the past.decade.

But yes...the phrase is easily interpreted as plural....and not every version says sin...lol...because John never said that (hint: his name wasn't John and he didnt speak English)

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Julian_Barbour

Julian Barbour (born 1937) is a British physicist with research interests in quantum gravity and the history of science ...

His 1999 book The End of Time advances timeless physics: the controversial view that time, as we perceive it, does not exist as anything other than an illusion, and that a number of problems in physical theory arise from assuming that it does exist. He argues that we have no evidence of the past other than our memory of it, and no evidence of the future other than our belief in it. "Difference merely creates an illusion of time, with each individual moment existing in its own right, complete and whole."

He calls these moments "Nows". It is all an illusion: there is no motion and no change. He argues that the illusion of time is what we interpret through what he calls "time capsules" which are "any fixed pattern that creates or encodes the appearance of motion, change or history".

Barbour's theory goes further in scepticism than the block universe theory, since it denies not only the passage of time, but the existence of an external dimension of time.

Physics orders "Nows" by their inherent similarity to each other. That ordering is what we conventionally call a time ordering, but does not come about from "Nows" occurring at specific times, since they do not occur, nor does it come about from their existing unchangingly along the time axis of a block universe, but it is rather derived from their actual content.

The philosopher J. M.E.McTaggart reached a similar conclusion in his 1908 "The Unreality of Time." ...

Google May Have Created an Unruly New State of Matter: Time Crystals

Time crystals really don't like to play by the rules. That could be a good thing for quantum computing.

Scientists from around the world claim to have harnessed a time crystal inside a quantum computer. If true, their discovery—as outlined in a July 28 pre-print research paper—could change the world virtually overnight with a limitless, rule-breaking source of energy that would bring quantum computers into the now ...

A time crystal is a special phase of matter that changes constantly, but doesn't ever appear to use any energy. This, scientists say, means it violates Isaac Newton's first law of motion, which deals with inertia—the resistance an object has to a change while in motion.

A rolling marble doesn't stop unless other forces act upon it, for instance. But from experience, you know that it will eventually stop due to forces like friction. If your marble were a time crystal, though, it would literally never stop ...

But nobody's going to read the book, unless the poster can explain why somebody needs to spend hours of their life to read it by trying to explain and discuss and condense the broad content. There are just too many books and videos demanding people's attention. Imo

Psst, they still have that cold fusion reactor in the institute basement. It's been unplugged since the early nineties, but it hasn't cooled below room temperature, so it must be working.

Sarkasm aside, time crystals cannot perform mechanical work, so they are not a limitless, rule-breaking source of energy.

I just posted it as a direction in quantum computing, not to suggest it as the saviour of the civilized world, or a source of mechanical energy ... lol

It is pretty cool, you are right. They were shooting lasers at the configuration, but it stayed "stable", did not absorb energy from the lasers.

Note how quickly woo science is challenged here, lol
Thanks @Cino :)

I need to let go. My physics days are long over.
Please keep it up! Vitally needed here to factually challenge woo, on a site like this one, from a base of actual science understanding, imo

This thread has wandered, let's bring it back on track.

Has anyone speculated on this? And, what is the, "sin of the world"?

Considering that this is John the Baptist speaking in the quote, and John the Baptist was Jewish, I think he was referring to not keeping the Commandments when he mentioned sin. In temple service at the time, Yom Kippur involved the high priest performing a complex day-long ritual, involving baths and sacrifices, to atone for the sins of the people. My best speculation is that this quote fits in with Christian theology re-interpreting the office of the high priest, and the functions of the Day of Atonement, in terms of the person of Jesus: he is baptized (a ritual bath), he kept the Commandments perfectly ("fulfilled the Law"), his death is understood as a sacrifice.

Sin in the singular: I find Craz' take convincing. Here's another take: In terms of the Commandments, there is sin against God, and sin against fellow human beings. Maybe the "sin of the world" is one or the other kind? Likely the first?

But I'm neither Christian nor Jewish, so this is strictly my personal understanding, absolutely no claims to correctly representing either religion.

Revelation 12:4 <~

It's about what really happened, as far as what it say's in the Bible, and what the chief rebel instigated.
It's about this evolved, organic situation, replete with it's own evolutionary past, and about who we really are, apart from Time.

"... and they are still very much a part of that system, and they will fight to protect it."

What Thomas said previously: Are you familiar with Philipp K. Dick's concepts of "The Empire", "The Black Iron Prison", and V.A.L.I.S.? If not, and you wish to read it, I bet you'll get something out of it.

I think I have read most of Dick's work at one time or another, but the only things I can remember at the moment are "The Three Stigmata of Palmer Eldritch" and "Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep". The latter turned out to be the base from which the movie "Blade Runner" loosely evolved.

Sorry, not familiar with any of these.

Prefer non fiction type reading.
I thought originally The Matrix was mainly fiction, until I began doing research on it.

What I've been sharing is a perception.
The understanding does not affect the Christian Faith except to provide a deeper understanding of origins and provides answers to a number of questions people will ask.

I am following the evolving Matrix situation with bated breath. Rumor has it Matrix 4 is in the making and is set to be released in December. I for one can't wait to see it. There might have been a leak or two regarding plot developments and if this is true, expect Neo and Trinity (reborn in the Matrix) to come out on top of the entire heap. Perhaps even replacing the Architect and the Oracle programs or reducing them to less important roles? Who knows. I'm just a fan and not knowing for certain is part of the fun.

Well, me too. But like I stated the belief involves the original movie in 1999.
Which is the same year "The End of Time" was released.

Stranger, have you given thought about blood atonement, from early on in the Bible, with respect to our organic situation here?
