tomorrow is full moon in virgo; the full is always opposite the sun, in pisces now. this polarity emphasises the martyr/victim archetype; the discriminatory and rational earthy virgo ruled by mercury, closest to our sun. the universality and culmination of all the signs in pisces ruled by the nebulousness and collective symbolic spirituality of neptune, far from the suns gaze.

l was born when pluto was in virgo which brought a generation interested in transforming issues of health, ecology and technology for the common good.
both virgo and pisces are mutable, the transition of seasons and adaptability, both negative, ie yin rather than yang, the signs of service.

pluto is hades lord of the underworld who kept demeter's [virgo] daughter persephone until she was released to nourish the earth after winter. dionysus as persephones son is also involved in this greek myth, and both were the focus of mystery cults formed as far back as 1600BC; the festival of Liberalia was decicated to dionysus by the Romans in March 17th [now St Patricks day]. The eleusinian mystery cults concerned the goddesses mentioned above and were secret initiatory ceremonies popular until banned by the Christian emperor Theodosius who banned all pagan religions in 392AD.

“ For among the many excellent and indeed divine institutions which your Athens has brought forth and contributed to human life, none, in my opinion, is better than those mysteries. For by their means we have been brought out of our barbarous and savage mode of life and educated and refined to a state of civilization; and as the rites are called "initiations," so in very truth we have learned from them the beginnings of life, and have gained the power not only to live happily, but also to die with a better hope. ”
—Cicero, Laws II, xiv, 36
the full moon is conjoined by saturn which is opposite uranus in pisces. these two planets signify the tension between the old and new. the limiting super-ego of accumulated tradition and understanding of the gravity of earthly affairs in saturn in virgo - no BS please. and the intuitive and revolutionary lateral thinking of the trans-personal planet uranus in pisces [2004-2011]- chaos theory and rockets up your ass.

pluto is now in capricorn last there 1762-1777, declaration of american independence and democratic revolutions following later in europe. 'when pluto again enters capricorn a world government will be founded on new social, legal, educational and religius concepts, which will be developed during pluro's stay in sagitarius' [F.Sakoian & L.S.Acker].

saturn rules capricorn and so will have a powerful influence at this time saturn in virgo aspects pluto there as both are of earthy elements and concerns. power politics and manipulations may abound with no remorse or sympathy in these business like configurations.

fortunately this is tempered by the beneficient jupiter and softening neptune in Aquarius which is ruled by uranus, now in pisces. the spiritual destiny of the moons node is also in aquarius, a sign which exemplifies liberty and fraternity; though as a fixed sign can also display dogmatism and self righteousness. pisces will gain its ruler in neptune in 2011 and properly in 2012, a date significant to some.

astrology is cyclic as is the earthly seasons controlled by the cosmic happenings. birth-death-rebirth perennial myths, narratives and paradigms are intense at this time when the sun enters the vernal equinox 0 degrees aries, the primal fire, the fool, the babe in the cosmic egg bursting forth from the head of...

virgo, rationality and particularity of communicative mercury and pisces intuitive salve of love and service in nebulous neptune. it is the planets of saturn and uranus opposite each other at this time reflecting the tensions of old and new paradigms working out at this moment in time, and where nothing stays the same.

'pluto is the evolutionary journey of the soul..saturn defines the boundries of our subjective consciousness..uranus the individualised unconscious, neptune the collective..pluto the soul itself' [J.Green]

cicero quote from wiki

march the 13th, 1959 when buddy holly and big bopper died in an air crash and the tragedy of tibet began. uranus joined pluto in virgo in 1962 intensifying even more a radical need to overthrow outworn modes of dealing with demeter issues [gaia and nurturance of the earth], hence the flower power era.

Boy! Can I attest to that!

LOL , dunno how it was for you but last night the moon was beautifully big and full last night till it got high. We all have the victim/martyr complex within even if we dont have those 'signs' nor planets in their 'house' as the astrology chart is like a blue-print diamond, some facets in this life-time are highlighted more than others; even in the same life of course the planets 'course' around it bringing issues and experiences to deal with and integrate, or not hence the repeating of same themes in our lives.

I brought the subject up because of the despair of demeter as martyr/victim in losing the light of her life, the seed at the autumn equinox and the return at spring equinox of the greeness/fertility and how the goddess persephone/dionysus/green man is interconnected as myths intermingle but never go away since the earth and cosmic happenings are perennial truths and all religions began with nature/cosmic happenings in connecting man/earth/cosmos/g-d.

Pisces, as the last sign until rebirth and new beginning in Aries, is the ultimate victim/martyr as it can absorb all the dross of the previous 11 signs; hence the symbolism and fasting at this time, the sacrifice entailed to be reborn anew.

Dont need to point out the symbolism of the fish/lamb etc at this time do l? But will say the love planet Venus is exalted in Pisces [self sacrifice and love of service] and the purity of the Sun is exalted in Aries, ruled by Mars, planet of [sometimes selfish] passions and action [both 'personal planets signifying our desire nature]; slave to the passions need to be slayed!!
happy springtime [for those in the northern hemisphere anyhows ] :)

yeh hail hail hope the sun is hot where you are; it feels soo good to get some vit d in the form of solar rays to warm our hearts :]

Native, can you help me learn more about the houses of the zodiac. Such as how you knew the placement of the different planets in the different zodiacs? I'm quite into astrology. Only problem is finding good material on the practice of astrology; It seems most books only talk about in theory, or summarize what each zodiac represents, without ever explaining the importance of placement and the interelationships between different planets and their positions, etc. PM ME plz

hi panda

there is a thread in judaism [k.wilber thread?] which mentions astrology in which l think dauer concurs the many levels a birth chart can reveal according to the perspective of the astrologer ; l will pm you as soon as l can..the time/place is needed to plot the planets to get the ascendant, the moment of birth and ar 'rising' over the horizon where we were potential now becoming actual, the houses are 'spheres' and 'playgrounds' of the planets energies within your psyche, whether full or empty. we all have the planets and we all have the houses, its a difference in emphasis of life time [and past] experiences.

hey new moon today, always in the sun sign, aries the ram. Here the ewes are kept together for an intensive birthing time of frolicking lambs, what a sight to behold on a warm spring day. the dead ones coat used as an adoption agency.

new moons are new beginnings, rebirth, spring cleaning, a good time to prune before the sap rises towards the next full moon. activity at this time is considered impulsive with less sense of consequences, particularly now in aries [ruled by mars, individuality and masculinity and an exalted solar energy].

so we are feeling this 'cardinal outgoing' energy as palpable creativity invigorating us to kick start what we promised at the beginning of january and all those 'resolutions'.

the sun is joined by venus, feminine energy not at ease in fiery aries [as it rules its opposite sign in rational yet harmonising air sign libra, sign of relationships and the 7th house of partnerships]. so now venus is between the sun and the earth, mitigating the strong yang energies and 'watered down' with mercury and mars still in 'self sacrificial' mutable pisces [where venus is exalted as pure love];

again the cosmic dance is dancing to the many elements within and without until the first fixed earth sign taurus settles us to chewing the cud and dancing may poles in gaiety, but the dance is a neverending seasonal cycle.
