Humans conjure up so many things.

Satan is one of them.

With God following close behind.

Im not allowed to edit the thread now. But out of curiosity what other options would you have included?

I don't think I can rule God out. I can probably rule out what he isn't. There must be something greater than me because I didn't conceive myself. It must be better then anything I can do and I have the potensial to do alot!

Hey fellow, I think theres consequence with behaviour and this manifests from what you choose to believe. If you believe there is a devil, you can mislead yourself by ascribing him in others, which to me is creating an enemy.

So Postmaster my old friend!

How have you been?

Are you asking about "Satan"..The Baha'i view is that Satan has no independent existence and is more like a "shadow" than a reality.

Well, the funny thing is that a Muslim is not really required to "believe" in Satan. Belief/Iman in the Quranic sense is reserved for God, Angels, The Books, The Prophets, and the Day of Resurrection... that's it. So I don't "believe" in Satan, like I believe in God.

But I do believe satan exists because he is mentioned as an entity in the Quran. As for the exact nature of that entity (whether it is a shadow of us, or an independent being)... well, I dont know.

I think thats the same view of Christinity, a fallen angel?

Well, this is a confusing issue actually. The Quran said that satan was a "jinn", not an Angel, unlike in the Bible. However, maybe he was an Angel, then became a jinn? (The Quran doesnt rule this out) Maybe all angels which "fall" become jinn/demons?? It may be, (but we do not know for sure) "Jinn" is just a title describing a state of disobedience to God. Because the word "jinn" is also used to describe humans who are in a state of rebellion against God, especially the leaders of evil.

But whatever the status of jins/demons, Muslims are required to believe in Angels, as possessing an independent existence. Which does imply that their counterparts (supposed counterparts) jinns/demons also have an independent existence. And so if Satan is a jinn, and jinn do have an independent existence, then Satan has an independent existence as well... but we are not required to "believe" in Satan. (confusing, I know).

IMO, the present view of such things is allegorical and the simple take it to be literal.
If there was such a being, they were probably just some part of the intergalactic group which landed here, and got into trouble by opposing the faction that ended up winning.
Thousands of years later, we people have difficulty figuring things out due to all the mythology which has grown like moss over the topic.

6 nonbelievers of Satan to 1 believer?

Come on! We know the world is not this rational.

This poll is skewed.

If we don't have the devil that would make us personally responsible.

I think it is shameful how many of us make Satan a scapegoat for our crimes and misdeeds.

Oh no! The devil made me do it!

I think this is unfair persecution and oppression of someone of that name whom I heard (I mean the real person) was undergoing psychiatric treatment for a severe illness and is otherwise harmless. Troubled but not a troublemaker.

I believe in paranormal happenings (I lived most of my childhood in Derby one of the UKs and probably Europes most huanted city and our house was part of the Derby Ghost walk and 3 generations of my family have expereinced various unexplainable events there) and I would probably accpet unidentified flying objects as being something unexplainable of the ones which arn't hoaxs but I really think theology and extraterrestrials is really crossing a sanity line.

Blame God. He made the devil too, he has a schizophrenic personality. A lot like a drunken wife beating husband... you never know what to expect...
