What does God want?

Exactly. To me saying G!d wants is a anthropomorphization.

G!d is.

Some people think we were made in God's image. I don't think this but the question 'What does God want?' means to me, 'what is creation all about?', to which I'd have to reply, 'I have no idea'.

lol

God said to Moses, I AM !

He did not say "I want, I want A big Mac and Fries Please"

of course I have no idea of what I am talking about though

While I can't be truly positive about what G-d wants, Lennon might have been onto something with his song "Imagine".

Okay, but then you have the paradox of someone singing about 'no possessions' who was extremely rich and clearly didn't have the capacity to walk the walk.

I guess the only thing you can do is try to be generous in your own way. If so, then that must be what God wants. Its true that when you are poor and asking, nobody seems to want to be a friend. People become cold, so it takes some friction to warm them up again. They need their eyes opened. If they aren't givers, then you have to be. I think you'll agree it isn't the comfortable, wealthy, successful people that make a society better. It is the people who smile and do what they can. Those people know things will improve. Until that brighter future comes, we just roll with the punches.

I don't think God wants or needs anything. He knows the beginning from the end after all. There are natural laws and principles established by Him, so I will assume that we "will" eventually come to live in harmony with the laws and principles He has established, but only after we've experienced the negative effects of living contrary to them.

It comes down to heeding His correction, and learning from our mistakes. He doesn't want a thing from us, but rather He allows us to live on our terms or in harmony with His creation (For better or worse). He allows us the freedom to live the way we wish, but there will always be consequences for our actions.

It comes down to what "We" want. Do we want to suffer for our disobedience, and our desire to live on our terms, or do we want to benefit from obeying the laws and principles He has set in place for the betterment of our species?

I dont think we should confuse Want with Need..

I think God loves His Son so much and His Son loves Us so much and that God loves what His Son loves with that very same agape love ...enough to make us co-heirs to His throne. That what it boils down to is that God wants a close loving personal relationship with His children. The same thing any parent wants, probably.

That's a good point about want vs. need, FS.

I suppose I can see how if God really desires something, it's anthropomorphizing God.

However, I took it the question to be something personal- what does God want from me? And what I feel that means is what I feel called to do, what I feel challenged to offer, what I can give God.

God really already has everything within Herself, in my belief. Every one of my breaths and heartbeats already belongs to God- I cannot be sustained without God. The only thing I figure I can give is my willingness, my awareness, my attention to God.

I can't know for sure if God derives pleasure, joy, or any other emotion from my relationship with Her. But I do know that it brings me a great deal of peace and joy, and it challenges me to strive toward a higher potential in myself.

All things come from God, the originator.
So how could God want for anything?
The motives of such a higher level being are certainly beyond the grasp of creatures such as us.
Really.
look at us....we are still actually arguing as to whether such a being exists or not.
Some of the more pathetic of our species are still killing for God as they believe that somehow this is what God wants.

Personally, I don't see God (or whatever you choose to call the higher power) as wanting anything. It seems to me that such an all-encompassing entity would simply not need anything or create (or give rise to creation) out of it's own function, as if that's simply what it does. Of course if you go down the path of God as more of a prinicple or Brahman/Tao type thingy as opposed to a talking Deity, you move from "what it wants" to just simply "why/how it is". I'm still all really confused on the subject of what/who "God" is.

'Every soul is created for a certain purpose and the light of that purpose has been kindled in that soul.' If there is already a flame lit even before the person was born on Earth, it remains for the person to find out for himself the purpose of his life, although everything outside himself points to that purpose.'

Mine was to invent the venison and black pudding meatball!! Now that I have done it what should i do?

is it perfect yet? hey it just sounded good, part of a larger meme ber.
we all just want to feel at home:)
Let me re meme ber...... yeh....tho its been a while.....
I make a black pudding core 'ball' and then build and outer one with good Argylly red deer mince and cracked peppercorns. Fry them gently and serve them with a sweetish sauce of red wine reduced with brambles/ quality blackberry jam and red onions. Couple of good rich greens, roast pots and you have it.
We all want to feel what at home  ;) :D
