hello Avi..(and all)James - I was trying to apologize and leave this thread quietly, but you obviously want to continue this discussion, so I will try one last time.
What I am saying is that your OP and your others on this thread are naive. That does not mean you are a bad person, just naive. I gave you a variety of examples of how your approach is too simplistic and in some cases wrong.
The reason I thought you were a high school student is because your approach is sophomoric. DrumR has done more to make your argument for you than you have done yourself. Perhaps you should make him your leader and all follow him. DrumR can articulate a clear vision.
Bringing your friend Tigger here is not going to win the argument either. It is another weak example of blind reliance on comradeship. But it proves again that it is ideas that win the case not blind loyalty. Two weak arguments are no stronger than one.
Also, I am not going to try to build your case for you. If you are unable to do it, just pack it in and go back to the drawing board. Come back when you have some new ideas.
Finally, if you cannot take some criticism when you claim that your goal is to create a better world, you might as well pack it in right now. It takes guts and wisdom to create a better world, not loud hornblowing.
I am a friend of Gatekeepers...(and the female with the idea of "knights"...)
I completely realize that this idea, comes off as "naive", and or
"impossible" at best...
but, irregardless, we intend to do something.
I first started a group on facebook, called "speaking up against the hate".
And it was initially to take a stand against all those who "use" the freedom of speech, to "hate" others. And in the wondering HOW, can we best take a stand against that which rather keeps us from evolving in our humanness, and keeps us held down in bigotry and ignorance, many in the group felt we could combat such things best by love.
The question comes of course HOW? How do we combat hate, evil , bigotry, injustice etc....
out of that ideas began to sprout and thoughts began to come together.
Idealist we may be, but every great venture begins in such a way...
a dream...
with love, sometimes we forget, that all big things start small.
That if one keeps shoveling, you WILL get to the bottom...
that one drop of rain, is a part of a larger ocean.
It is easy to think that one small thing may not make a difference,
it is not worth the effort..but that is not true.
Each act of kindness is but a beginning.
This quote from Dean Koontz book "From the corner of His Eye"
says it better than i ever could....
Not one day in anyone’s life is an uneventful day, no day without profound meaning, no matter how dull and boring it might seem, no matter whether you are a seamstress or a queen, a shoeshine boy, or a movie star, a renowned philosopher or a Down’s-syndrome child. Because in every day of your life, there are opportunities to perform little kindnesses for others, both by conscious acts of will and unconscious example. Each smallest act of kindness—even just words of hope when they are needed, the remembrance of a birthday, a compliment that engenders a smile—reverberates across great distances and spans of time, affecting lives unknown to the one whose generous spirit was the source of this good echo, because kindness is passed on and grows each time it’s passed, until a simple courtesy becomes an act of selfless courage years later and far away. Likewise, each small meanness, each thoughtless expression of hatred, each envious and bitter act, regardless of how petty, can inspire others, and is therefore the seed that ultimately produces evil fruit, poisoning people whom you have never met and never will. All human lives are so profoundly and intricately entwined—those dead, those living, those generations yet to come—that the fate of all is the fate of each, and the hope of humanity rests in every heart and in every pair of hands. Therefore, after every failure, we are obliged to strive again for success, and when faced with the end of one thing, we must build something new and better in the ashes, just as from pain and grief, we must weave hope, for each of us is a thread critical to the strength—to the very survival of the human tapestry. Every hour in every life contains such often-unrecognized potential to affect the world that the great days and thrilling possibilities are combined always in this momentous day.
this video is of a fav movie of mine with the same idea...
