Why?

Why have you chosen to come here*?
(*at this time, in this world)

That is a matter I don't really want to discuss on an open internet forum at this time. It is multifaceted and a little complicated.

Do you even remember?

Do you know?

Yes. And yes. It took me 25 years to begin to remember, another 5 just to get the courage to really engage my soul enough to face these choices, and it is only the last year that I am beginning to understand the details of the choice I made.

Or are you just going by what they tell you?

That was the hardest part. To let go of what others would tell me, and to look within and to my own connection to God Herself to find the answer. The answer is challenging, difficult, surprising... and yet also strangely comforting and strengthening.

This is extremely interesting. Everyone seems to be searching for themselves, when in fact, there is no self, there is but one "I". I Am! I don't care if you hear it from a burning bush, at the top of Mt Sinai, or at a rock concert! In the Universe(s) there is but one 'existence'! One, "I AM". It does not get any more simple than that. We are part of a whole, a singular entity. Beyond this, there is no 'why'! You might as well ask, "What is the purpose of 'existence'? The answer to that is : TO BE!

Night, night.....

I would put forth... we are all part of one "I." However, that does not mean we are all the same part of that "I."

Our own bodies are a good example. All of my cells are a part of me. But the heart cell does not do what the brain cell does. They have different roles. They have their own little lives and wisdom and gift to give.

Without this, there would be no diversity in this manifest reality. All beings would be the same, which they clearly are not. Equally significant, yes. Equally insignificant, yes. Equally manifest from the broader "I," yes.

But not the same. That's part of the beauty of it all, to me.

Why do we exist?

I'll tell you. But before I do:

you have to prove to me that you exist. (which you wont)

and then, prove to yourself, that you exist (which you cant)

Have Fun...

I am just a dreamer......and you are just a dream.

But we sure think we are, now, don't we.;)
That is part of what makes the whole trip so darn fantastic.

Most of the time, dreams are mutually exclusive. Everyone dreams their own little dream. If you and c0de can verify that you are seeing the same post from me, at least you could be sure that your minds are somehow connected.

Like a lucid dreaming mind meld.

Why don't you pinch yourself and try to wake up?

Does your hand show up clearly?

Try to flap your wings and fly.

Maybe you could both fly away together.

Count to one hundred. Perform some integral and derivative calculus in your dreams. See how well you can do it.

Conjure up a house or car out of thin air.

Well....if your ego wasn't so dominant and you weren't so convinced in the absoluteness of your particular paradigm you might actually understand what was meant.:p

Sarcastic dinner.;)

Not at all . . . I don't believe in absolutes. I know my limits as a person.

But anyhow, I have to interpret this as a sign that our minds aren't so connected.

Dominant ego? What does that mean? A person projects himself as much as he wants and likes. It's nobody's business but his own. I do my own thing. Sure, I'd been a bit assertive, sometimes even aggressive. But it's deliberate. I am just me.

Maybe I just like interrupting other people's conversations and getting a piece of the action myself.

Sorry I was rude.:D

Enjoy the meal.:)

Just vocalizing the obvious that we exist primarily for the purposes for which we seem to be well suited. If we exist for any reason at all, then it has to be for some duty that we are capable of. If there is heaven, then that is another creation altogether; so we'll have to be re-created before we can be suited for that. As I am right now, heaven would not have much use for me; unless they have an internet forum. Which I doubt they would need. Even if they did have one, I doubt I'd manage to get three squares without some kind of heavenly upgrade. But if I were upgraded for duties in heaven then the person who I am now would no longer exist, since it were necessary to replace me by some better thing. I conclude I exist for those things which I am capable of doing.

I find it a bit strange as well.
Curious, as the question if fairly simple.

Simple but unanswerable, except in terms of our own imaginings and accumulated human understandings and speculations; accretions since the 'dawn of time' now considered sacrosanct, true or real, as to our purpose or reason for existing.
We are not 'just' animals being instinctual in our actions [though we still do not 'know' whether animals contemplate their demise]. 'we have reason to believe..' and that reason makes us human, to make a stand on our being [which cultivates a particular ego or personality]. This is circumscribed so much by the 'they' of the culture or even genetic code of millenia of 'that' blood.
Imagination is highly undervalued nowadays since the rise of reason with a capital R in our western paradigm.
hip hip hooray for the arts and crafts movement! Only they can succinctly express explore and manifest such a simple question with the least assumed concepts trailing alongside it...celebrating the mystery of who we are:)

These two videos are very relevant to this thread.
One's a routine by Louis ck, who is the funniest comic ever (imo)
and the other is a talk with Richard Feynman, who is one of the
most significant physicists ever.

Skip to se7en minutes for "why?"
(btw, language alert!!)

Feynman on "why" questions

Personally, I think some why questions can be answered,
just usually not with the answers that favor our delusional expectations.
