Tavis Smiley needs 5-minutes each time he asks a question of his guest ---he loves his voice so much that he has now taken it to the next new frontier of pomposity . . . "Talking Stupid/Propounding Sensationalisms" garners publicity.

Namaskar bhaktajan, your picking on Tavis is like George Bush deciding Sadam was the most evil dictator in the world and had to be removed.

Exactly how does one choose these things, which evil dictator was picked by ease of taking over the country and to show daddy that he could complete what daddy couldn't.

I'm thinking you have an ulterior motive as Georgie did and Tavis set you off during that show...surely when we talk about American television Tavis is not the bottom of the barrel, he's got an incredible amount of competetion.

Paragraphs and essay organization are good things, really they are.
 
Why can't pundits and commentators name, or describe the people they are actually referring to, rather than resorting to loaded religio-ethnic generalities? Tavis could simply say "Americans", or "Coloradians" (when referring to the Columbine massacre) instead of the loaded and misleading "Christians", or "Saudis" or "Jordanians" or "Egyptians" when referring to "Muslims" who allegedly commit terrorist acts. This kind of simplification is disingenuous and intentionally inflammatory.

Well,look...it's hard not to either toe a PC line or let some part of your slip show when it comes to discussing Muslim issues. Conventional wisdom is just such crap, and it's hard to even comment without rehearsing the entire history of the world. There is never time in the opinion portion of a broadcast to provide the necessary nuance and context. I don't know why, outside of sheer ego, anyone would even try. But then that unmitigated ego seems a prerequisite for a whole class of media "contributors" whose notion of their own self importance and slim bona fides seems to overwhelm any obligation to intellectual honesty. They're just that sliver smarter than the average bear. They know it, and they can't help themselves.

Might I suggest the obvious, if the idiot box is bringing so much anguish...turn it off. Life will continue, but it will be much more peaceful in your place. I think the term 'media' is an obsolete pointer. I feel better now.

If a Moslem is involved in any crime...anything, the headlines are a Moslem robbed a bank...or committed rape....or abused his wife....or held a hostage...everything must be prefaced by Moslem...part of the keeping the fear alive.

Yet if we prefaced every other crime with a Christian man robbed a bank...or committed rape...we don't do that, it is the nature of the beast.

Actually I've never heard them say 'Muslim male' did this or that, except when the perpetrators claim they were acting out of Muslim sentiment. Also, when Christians went and killed doctors at abortion clinics, the media were quick to point out that they were Christian. For a long time in America it was pretty damning to be a Catholic.
 
I don't know about that. Seems likw what I hear is a Religious affiliation if the alledged perpetrator is any non-mainstream group (Muslim terrorist, Fundamental LDS pediphile, Findamentalist anti-abortion activist, Catholic Evangelical anti-governmental.... etc). WE like those pidgeonholes we can prejudge people with. But I find the young and the educated doing that less and less (even as the population ages and education in the USA slides downhill).
