Been away a while.

Just to let those who know me know I have finished ... and passed ... my degree program. Phew!

Am taking a 'gap year' and hopefully my better half will perhaps pursue an MA in Art, as was the plan all those years ago. Meanwhile, our girls having grown up up and flown the coop, we're converting the back of the house into a studio.

Then perhaps its on to an MA for me, if I can find one, and if not, then what the heck, I'll do my own work anyway ... I've enough books on my shelves to keep me going til the next millenium.

Visit anyone famous whilst you were away?

Watched The Secret Vatican the other night. Don't know if you saw it? Access was allowed to the underground grave of St. Peter.

And what about the pope??!! Can't he even go to the loo without 4 cameras keeping a check on him??:eek:

It's an interesting story. The skeleton having no feet is a something, when you tell the story right (as I was told, a real spine-tingler) ... and the mouse preserved with him ... fantastic.

I know ... and he's not the one they ought to be keeping a check on! :eek:

If it were down to me, I'd let him resign, as he has wanted to from the very beginning ... and if it was down to me, I'd suggest a fair few other resignations as well.

I was going to ask if you were either dead or stranded in hospital (a question I like to ask when old timer's appear less frequently in the forums, like for instance dauer).

The degree is called a BA (Divinity). When someone introduced me to a venerable Dominican brother at the Priory, he asked "Does this mean you can talk at great length about things you know absolutely nothing about?" To which I replied, "Indeed it does, and after five years, I've earned the right to do so!"

As for you, Salty old chum ... go easy! I'm getting my motorbike back today ... watch this space.

Thomas can you recommend any books on theology ?

nothing to heavy for starters .
 
A highly recommended primer is Theology and Sanity

I think you can read it online if you follow the link ... when I get home I'll check the text against the book to see if it follows exactly. I picked up an old volume 2nd hand.

In fact, I think I only possess two books on theology as such — the above, and Cardinal Charles Journet's The Theology of the Church, which is a bit more involved/in depth.

All the rest is specialist stuff.

dude, you know i've listened to like over 60 of those the BBC In Our Time shows that you got me hooked on. There's so many of em! And a lot of em are really good!

my copy of Theology and Sanity arrived yesterday, so far its a very good read.
