Thanks for the link! I have been a fan of Shermer since I saw him on a PBS special called "A Question of God" or something like that. I think that as brain research moves forward we can put much of the superstition behind us and perhaps discover something even more amazing.
I don't think the religous her are gonna like this, but I feel that footage could go some way to explaining so called 'divine' experiences, and therefore all of religions roots....

I grew up a farm boy. We rural folks wave at everybody, whether we know them or not. earlHey Earl!
What should you do if you meet the Buddha on the street?

That is interesting...I grew up a farm boy. We rural folks wave at everybody, whether we know them or not. earl
Off topic I know, but when I was a lad 40+ years ago traveling the rural roads with my parents, folks in other cars got pleasant "how ya doing?" waves, strangers or not. Now in this age we have road hostility and a phrase never heard of then-"road rage." Could use a few more Buddhas behind the wheel. My how times have changed. earlKill the buddha!

I think it has to do with traffic frequency...and speed. The lower the speed and the fewer cars the more the waves....seeing faces...when you have the time to see the face...notice the car...notice who is in it (not exactly who as you indicated, but a body) and you wave...
At 25 mph bumper to bumper....one doesn't wave to oncoming traffic....it is now a line of traffic and not an individual....
Same at 65 mph....with less traffic...it is a car, not a body behind a wheel.
But slow down to below 50 and have less than a car every minute....and spontaneous waving occurs...
Unless you see the Buddha...
