Low blood pressure

yes. {don't faint!} :p

Don't faint is right....each animal's blood pressure is regulated by the amount your heart has to pump to get blood/oxygen to your brain.

Hence the animal with the highest blood pressure would be the ....

drum roll.....

Giraffe!

And as I was writing this I realized the animal with the lowest blood pressure would be the __________________________ due to the current location of their head.

...be careful of any drugs that might cause orthostatic hypotension (i.e., make you get a head rush/feel dizzy when you suddenly stand!), try not to get constipated (same reason: straining to defecate causes BP to drop), and ... eat more salt. Not lots, but, a little.

That's what I do. A low BP isn't especially dangerous, but it's good to make surgeons aware if you ever go for an operation...

OK thanks for all the tips. I know it's good cos it makes me less likely to have heart problems or a stroke but I just wanted to try and avoid the pitfalls; doctors don't seem to have any advice.

ah. Shall we do a 50/50 transfusion?

I'm blood type A Not A.

You all would never guess my blood type....If I said it matched my personality some might think, type A, but that would be wrong, but it does match which makes it easy to remember...

Be Positive.

2 funny Thomas.... no wonder we butt heads my brother...

I'm gonna send you my fav pair of rose colored glasses and a garland of daisies....

... and ... eat more salt. Not lots, but, a little.

Oddly enough, true and when the doctor told me to do this I couldn't believe it. He actually recommended the salt intake via liquids, like soup for example....My low blood pressure went away after a few years, then turned into high blood pressure, for which I got medication, but after my child was born that is gone and pressure is *normal.* Lol...go figure!

here's a few more informative tips guys:

Blood pressure is the force exerted by circulating blood on the walls of blood vessels. It constitutes one of the critically important signs of life or vital signs which include heart beat, breathing, and temperature. Blood pressure is generated by the heart pumping blood into the arteries modified by the response of the arteries to the flow of blood.
An individual's blood pressure is expressed as systolic/diastolic blood pressure, for example, 120/80.The systolic blood pressure (the top number) represents the pressure in the arteries as the muscle of the heart contracts and pumps blood into them. The diastolic blood pressure (the bottom number) represents the pressure in the arteries as the muscle of the heart relaxes following its contraction. Blood pressure always is higher when the heart is pumping (squeezing) than when it is relaxing.

I have low blood pressure and am currently being investigated for postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome. I was told for ages that low blood pressure wasn't a medical problem and yet now, it seems to be my biggest one!

Okay, first, come to Colorado, second get involved in local politics, third, watch your blood pressure rise!

Either that or we should go running together because my blood pressure is low as well.

I have low blood pressure too; I used to actually faint in the mornings when jumping out of bed too fast. I'd wake up 5 minutes after waking up, back on my bed...lol

Mine has gotten better (thank you, salt!), but I still have circulation problems (legs falling asleep, bruising). I take vitamin K and iron regularly (good for blood thickness) to help with that, and also do yoga along with regular cardio exercise to help improve my circulation in general. Don't know if circulation is an issue for you, but if it is, maybe that stuff could be useful! :)

When I took it yesterday it was 15 units different between my right and left. What's that all about!!!

blood quality and flow are largely governed by the spleen/pancreas meridian. partly because it ends on the big toe, which is the furthest point from the heart, and so is associated with controlling adequate blood (energy) flow to the extemeties, including feet, hands and head. also it controls blood sugar and the extraction of nutrients from the colon into the blood, all of which go to affecting its consistency and hence the ability of the heart to pump it. it is the quality of the blood that decides how well the heart beats not vice versa
