There can be no scientific proof of God

Well not exactly. Matter does not cause matter to exist. All matter that exists, has ever existed, and will ever exist was created in the Big Bang. Matter can neither be created nor destroyed; only its state can change (to energy).

I agree the syllogism is deeply flawed never the less.
Is not the big bang currently slowly falling out of favor?

Indeed...it is PRECISELY out of respect that it is rendered G!d, as a show of respect. One would do well to consider.
If this were exclusively a Jewish forum that might hold water. Although, not all Jews subscribe to that spelling. All I'm saying is, this an interfaith forum and some of the faiths represented find the spelling inappropriate, disrespectful and offensive. I among them.

How do you find it offensive... As I understand it... (and as you said...not all jews) a jewish tradition is not uttering the name of G!d... hence YHWH, JHVH not said as we do Yahweh, Jehovah... hence the use of Adonai (lord) as a substitute when referring to G!d. The reasoning being that uttering the name is defining the undefinable, limiting the unlimitable It is completely out of honor and respect. .In writing, G!ds name is not written...as any writing on papyrus or stone can be destroyed and G!d cannot be destroyed....so they provide a substitute again.

Paraphrased that is what I learned from Jews when I saw them writing G!d, G-d, G@d.... I like the exclamation point.. and this is an explanation point.

No disrespect, just as Allah, El Shaddai, Elohem....tons of names for G!d.... and ESPECIALLY on an interfaith site...one would be able to use the one they prefer...

I've been questioned before....just as I questioned when I first saw it...yet found no one who found it offensive after they understood he reasoning.

I see...so I am left with the choice of honoring and respecting Judaism, or you...on a forum I helped build, that has my DNA all over the place. I have been a member here over ten years before you came, and you are going to tell me how it's going to be? Since you are offended by interfaith discussion of G!d, why are you here? To proselytise and convert others?

I suggest a regroup and a rethink, considering I have ten times the posts you have, and most of mine are substantial, helping to build this site in its formative years. It would serve you well to research my past history and contributions here...I can assure I've already researched yours, and I see nothing particularly impressive. At that time we can either try this again, or I can wipe the dust from my feet and put you on "ignore." Wil is a pushover and peacemaker...I am not. If attitude is directed at me, I have no reservations in giving it right back. That is the Aramaic interpretation of "turn the other cheek." (and guess what? Yashua, also known as Jesus, spoke Aramaic.) And please look up my thread "the Warrior Philosophe."

Fully aware of all of that guys. Just expressing my opinion. Make of that what you will and by all means do as you like.

I am interested in your reasoning as to why you find it offensive....and if you still find it offensive now that you understand the origin.

As to Judaism...I am not a Jew although since they wrote 2/3s of the book (actually all) I have learned to respect some of their tradition..you know in an interfaith way.

NJ, from my point of view you are being unreasonable here. People use the one term and they will insult you, use a different version and they will insult someone else. As this is an interfaith forum, seems to me we need to be a bit more lenient on our personal preferences, such as in a situation like this. Does that not sound reasonable?
