Proposed Prayer Study

 I think I now understand, IG. I would add that if the administrator of the test (the scorer or measurer) did not know which one of the Groups a patient belonged to, then it would by definition be "double blind". That is neither the patient not the observer knows which Group a particular patentient belongs to.

Actually, there are some neat neuropsychologists out there who might even take this own. Heck, just look up neuros and risk... they did a bunch of research on the brain's reponse to positions of risk with MRI data.

Luecy - do you agree that a sugar pill has the power to heal through the placebo effect (i.e. the human mind is responsible)? Or do you think divine intervention is what causes a sugar pill to heal someone?

I think faith between individuals is the stronger factor.

Or do you think divine intervention is what causes a sugar pill to heal someone?
The degree to which God is involved is known by God. Why do you ask me? Should I return the favor and ask you if you think my wife has intervened?

I believe this is true if you tell that person that you are praying for them.

Actually, I think if you tell them you are praying for them it doesn't really matter if you pray out loud, pray silently, or don't pray at all. They think you are praying for them, and their power of positive thinking acts as a placebo effect to help them in their given situation.

Congratulation IowaGuy, you have cracked the secret of prayer. I do agree with your formula with regards to prayer, as I believe that prayer works horizontally and not vertically. Unless, in a dream or vision, when, vertically, prayer takes effect, as we have in the case of the dream of Jacob in Genesis 28:10-19.

IowaGuy,
I like science & appreciate all that I've learned & can learn from it.
Of course, there's a real placebo effect... thoughts (& related e-motions) are powerful!
Still, I don't believe science is all-inclusive in it's measuring methods.
How do you measure the influences of spirituality, prayer... choice & will?

Once, we were on a long road trip... my son was crying with a stomach ache or something. But he just kept crying. I prayed for him with all my heart & as soon as I ended my prayer, he stopped crying. It could've been cooincidence, but I tend to hope more than that. I wonder if we are more aware of more on a sub-conscious level. I wonder of the reality of psychic abilities & of communicating spiritually.
