Database errors

Oh well, back to constant page refreshes to get any navigation done..... 3 days now. No error message though, pages just stops loading before finishing, but only when I'm logged in.
Hmm, that's weird that the issues only occur when you're logged in. Are you in the same location, using the same computer when you're logged in and when you're not?

Same computer, same location, but happens whether I'm on my PC or my laptop. Same browser, but different operating systems. BTW, took 3 page refreshes to make this reply.

That rules out a quick explanation, which is good and bad. I'll open up a ticket for this. Still no error messages, though? Sorry this is happening. Since the two of you share a connection (I think is what has been said in the past), are you experiencing any issues now, Aussie?

I have no issues. I did find it necessary to tweak my initial win10 install. Have had no problems since...

Not exactly. A long time ago we created a portal through a proxy to share business information. For some reason the portal stayed open even after the proxy was shut down, giving me access to anything on it. I haven't had any issues of late though.

That's good. I'm glad you were able to make the necessary tweak.

Happy to hear that. And thanks for the portal proxy explanation.

NJ, they're looking into your account and I'll let you know if they come up with anything more than last time when they said you're on a slow connection, so anything can happen. Basically you're the IO wildcard :)

Hey Aus, is it possible my network is now acting as the proxy? The portal would have closed when our site was shut down without it.
Don't ask me. I never did understand how the damn thing worked. All I know is, when I try to access the portal via the proxy, it comes back, portal not found or invalid account, but I am able to back door the portal directly. I'm then asked if I want to go online. Clicking yes gives me net access via remote dial-up. Our old set-up I'd assume.

Ok, but you can't access the portal directly, only the framework used to create it. Sounds like the portal really is closed. You're just using the host to get online via the proxy protocols stored in the original framework. Essentially, you're not flagging my server, you're imitating it! Trouble is, those protocols are way out of date. Newer script won't even have enough time to load with those settings. Oops! Just found the problem Steve. There's an Aussie in the works!

Hey Steve, we worked out any possible connection conflicts on our end or rather NJ did. Anyway, everything was fine, but the past few days it's been nothing but error messages one after the other and constant page refreshes to get anything done.

I got my most regular hiccuoa this week...prolly half.a dozen times

I had problems posting several times last night. I sent a message through the "Contact the Administrator" link with more details.

Thanks for letting me know about the rash of errors and Phyllis, I appreciate the detailed message.

I know that you'll all be shocked to learn that....drum roll....the host began doing rolling server maintenance last Tuesday, which reduced the number of active servers at any one time. They're supposed to alert me, so I can tell you, at least two days before scheduled maintenance begins to prepare for any outages. Of course they failed to alert me and the first two technicians I spoke with were tight lipped. I finally spoke with a manager this morning who admitted they were getting everything ready for Black Friday and Cyber Monday (for those unfamiliar, those are two really big online shopping days in the US, like Singles Day in China). As of 9am central time, the manager told me that everything was operating at 100% again. I've kept an eye on the server status page and every server has been up and running whenever I checked. So maybe we're actually through the rough patch.

I told the manager that he must alert me before any future maintenance and that I'l be filing a complaint with the BBB about the breach in the contract language that says they have to let me know about times when servers will be taken offline and sites may be down.

I appreciate everyone's patience and persistence this last week. Happy Thanksgiving to everyone who celebrates the holiday!

We gotta be his biggest client? I mean our volume surely isn't that incredible
I sure hope not. We aren't that large and we certainly aren't taxing on system resources, at least not from all the analytics I've looked at. At this point I wouldn't be surprised if the 'host' is just some guy in his garage who rigged together a bunch of servers with clothes hangers and electrical tape.

Apparently when iBrian started using this company a decade ago, it was an up and coming host that provided good service to differentiate itself from its larger competitors. Now those larger competitors have bought up out host and it is a subsidiary.

Everything was fine yesterday. Today it's back to error messages and constant page refreshes to post anything.
How are things today?
