Database errors

How strange, NJ. It may have something to do with the Javascript. That's a possibility I haven't explored too much. I haven't been running tests between being logged in and not being logged in and I doubt tech support has either. I'm headed to a meeting now, but I have a call with a tech later this afternoon and I'll raise the redirects and drop down menu issues with them then.

Don't know, but for some reason everything is working fine today.
That works for me, although it would be good to know the underlying cause. The tech I spoke with said that if there were a Javascript error, it might be from a plugin in your browser. Did you install any new plugins over the weekend? Even with that as a possibility, he said it was unlikely.

wil, glad that you're not experiencing issues. Could be browser related, but I thought earlier in this thread we already checked and people with a variety of browsers both had and didn't have issues, seemingly without rhyme or reason.

Well, navigation bliss was short lived apparently. Same old, same old today. I'm running an Opera browser which is similar in function to Chrome, with no plug-ins at all. I opened the site using Explorer to see if anything would change. It didn't. I seriously doubt the problem is browser related though since sometimes everything works and sometimes it doesn't.

Yeah, I agree if the same issues have appeared again two days later without any changes to the browser, it isn't the browser. And Opera is a pretty sturdy one to be using. Internet Explorer and Firefox maybe could be browser-related problems, but there must be something else causing the sluggishness here. I'll re-open the ticket and have them troubleshoot some more. Sorry, NJ, that this is happening.

Got this message trying to use the search function today.

That looks like a database error caused by network resource limits, but not the standard language of such errors. Thanks for the update. Still working with tech support for a solution.

NJ and Aussie, how have the connectivity issues been the last three days?

I'm getting java script errors off and on now. Most site navigation just leads back to the forum list page on the 1st try as well.
I'll put your username on the same, still open ticket, from when NJ was having that problem. The techs will check your account to see if they can identify an individual basis since they don't believe this is a site-wide issue.

Although today we did have a site-wide issue when two of the servers were down and we had access to only 1/4 of our regular network resources from 10am-3pm central time today. They've got the servers back up so we shouldn't be limited any more. NJ, were those unspecified errors just today or the last few too?

That's about the same time frame I was getting the errors.

I was talking to a friend of mine on this. He's a retired Westinghouse programmer. He said it sounds like the page is timing out before it can fully load. He says this started happening with the increased dependence of Java script and that it's mostly an issue for people with low speed net connections. I happen to live in an area without broadband access as does Aussie who flags off of my server. If that's the case, I'm not sure what if anything can be done about it. Just had an odd thing happen on the Saudi thread. Two #66 posts. Originally it was 4, but I managed to get rid of 2 of them and last week one of my posts completely disappeared on another thread.

That is not an issue I considered, but seeing you write that, it does make sense. It also explains why other folks haven't been experiencing the same thing.

Did you get an error message when four #66 posts first showed up? How were you able to get rid of two of them?

No error message, just that when I hit reply there were 4 copies of my post. I tried to edit 3 of them to say duplicate post, but after I did the 1st one, all 4 said duplicate post. So I re-edited one of the duplicates. When I did there were 2 #66's one as I originally posted and the other as I originally edited. Don't know what happened to the other 2.

I have no clue why that would happen. Maybe this relates back to the JavaScript issue and the page times out before it posts or it gets caught up while trying to post and when it does finally load, posts multiple times? Knowing that you're on a slower connection, I'll talk with tech support to see if this problem could be related to the other issues.

Oh well, back to constant page refreshes to get any navigation done..... 3 days now. No error message though, pages just stops loading before finishing, but only when I'm logged in.
