How Was Your Week?

Just found out that someone I knew passed away this past weekend from a massive stroke not long after one of her :kitty:s. She was closer to my brother than to me, yet we would talk about :kitty:s and :kitty:-related stuff when we talked. :( DB has my cellphone number; he could've called me on it.

Sorry for your loss, Phyllis.

"Celebrated" Earth Day (did anyone else here do anything for Earth Day? <(^x^)>)

Tidbit of trivia: Earth Day was started by the late Gaylord Nelson, a former governor and senator from Wisconsin.

I finally connected with my preferred caseworker today! We have an appointment for the second Monday next month (have to wash and set aside [in a safe/:kitty:-free place] an entire outfit since she's highly allergic to :kitty's...) Oh, and we have to figure out how much I'll have in my account as well as how to pay for a mobile veterinarian for the trio.

The basement to the apartment complex has flooded (gotta check to see if anything in my storage locker's been affected...)

I avoided the movie last night since I figure that three times in less than a year is too much, no matter if the movie is considered a "classic" by several neighbors (The Big Lebowski.) I watched a couple of anime instead (Dies Irae and Butlers X Battlers.)

Just got step 2 taken care of for teeth extraction! I need to see a dentist to refer me to an oral surgeon, and I have an appointment for the the 17th of this month (and the substitute caseworker will drive me there [she's the one that got the appointment for me].)

I must say that I really want her for my secondary caseworker (she's competent!)

Just saw a commercial for the volcanic lava fry pan. The announcer had this thick Aussie accent. Man I about cracked up when he said, "Act now and we'll double that offer!":D

I'm getting a new exhaust fan for my bathroom and a new battery for one of my smoke detectors.

The exhaust fan has to be replaced because of the a$$hat in the apartment above me causing a torrent of water to cascade through it (see rant about the specifics) and the smoke detector has been beeping for about a month now (give or take.) They should be grateful that I stay in the kitchen whenever I cook unless I'm using my slow cooker (there are several neighbors here that don't, plus they use tobacco products in their beds, too [I don't/can't smoke cigarettes or cigars due to asthma and :kitty:s].)

Oops, one of my neighbors is blaring his television, and the particular thing playing has quite a bit of violence and foul language (another rant for another day. [])

Getting blood pressure under control... Ive gone from zero meds to a handful. I juggled the other day, can solve a rubics cube in a couple minutes again, went for a walk on the beach with a cane.... I'm on the mend!

Sounds like one I shot. Did over 200 so far this season. Aussie and British spokesman are a hot commodity these days. Everybody wants their spiel done down here.

You know what I recommend for exercise (nonhuman animals.) A good-for-something animal to help exercise your legs is a horse (they're recommended for people with MS and other neuromuscular problems) and :kitty:s help with dexterity (as well as blood pressure.) Talk with your doctor about these.

Lol, Not with a sternum cut in half.

I haven't ridden since 85, I rode a lot in Nevada, we used to rope stallions and ride (not break) them and let them run off when they bucked us. (Bareback, no bridle)

Do you remember pony rides for kids? Therapy horses used for MS patients are very docile, plus the rider has at least two people with them.

I don't know if the sternum cut in half would be effected in this scenario, but I just thought that I'd suggest it (better than suggesting water aerobics since winter's coming real soon.)

Thx,known the owner of this place for a.couple.decades... https://horsesthatheal.org

Talk with your doctor about that place. If s/he's receptive to the idea, they can chat about having you get back on a horse (perhaps with the "blessing" of your insurance agency. :)) Otherwise, you can ask about other types of exercise that might help you out without as many side effects as medication.

Speaking of doctors and the like, I had three this week (one was a dental appointment, another was an ultrasound and the third was a mammogram.)

The dental appointment was "interesting" to say the least (everyone in the room found out just how sensitive my gag reflex is without me losing my breakfast all over the room [and that was without getting x-rays!].) The temporary caseworker and the dentist were shocked that I just started bucking while making gagging noises when she (the dentist) tried to find out just how wide my mouth would go before there was trouble {that was when she decided that I was just too troublesome to even attempt anything other than a visual examination before referring me to an oral surgeon who will put me under}. Then, my caseworker and I found out that the guy I was referred to didn't take my health insurance... Luckily for everyone involved, we hadn't left the parking lot yet.

Both the pelvic ultrasound and mammogram were in the same building, so I had little-to-no trouble. I felt sorry for the person giving me the pelvic ultrasound because he had to deal with me. He ended up talking with his supervisor about what to do about the second part of the exam (they decided that it would be best not to proceed with it and just sent me to the breast imaging clinic one floor down.) Everyone in the ultrasound clinic were grateful that I brought a liter of water to drink (the females on the forum as well as anyone familiar with the exam that I went through can understand why.) I left them with a Happy International Cat Appreciation Month farewell before going to the other clinic.

In the other clinic, they had trouble with another patient ahead of me (it took all of my won'tpower not to turn her over my knee like they did before it was considered child abuse.) Then I went "in back" (much to my relief) and the technician said that she remembered me from last year. We chatted a bit about this and that, including the song going on in the background (it was Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen) and I mentioned that next week is Queen's movie's opening (she didn't believe me until she turned the speakers up in the room.) She also let me know that I was the third or fourth patient to use the newest machine (I tend to be one of the "test subjects" on new/er equipment. ) When I left, security personel were "escorting" the troublesome patient away (she wasn't walking on her own iykwim.)

I ended my day there picking up a quick lunch, one that Namaste Jesus might've liked (kung pao tofu, a sparkling water and three pieces of candy the were 20% off.) None of the staff could believe just how quiet I am (three doctor's didn't stop talking about one of their patiens' cases right in front of me until one spotted me: I just let them know that I wasn't listening...) A couple of Milwaukee police officers entered the building just as I was leaving, picking up a "client" (I wonder if it was the other woman in Breast Imaging...) Oh, well. :sigh: I then headed for the bus stop, encountering the jerk who drives an old hearse he refurbished with a PA system and covered with fudamentalist garbage, and found myself looking forward to seeing my furred purrson plural (the more I interact with humans in general, the more I appreciate :kitty:s!) He's actually not allowed in that area unless he's going to the emergency room on a stretcher (he has an injunction against him, prohibiting him from being within 500 feet of both the hospital and the university due to harassment.)

I've been enjoying my wife's much deserved, but unpaid extended vacation. Now that she's secured gainful employment for all of her subordinates who were unceremoniously given the boot along with her by their former jack-wad employer, hopefully she'll finally be comfortable doing same for herself. Couple interesting offers, but nothing firm yet.
