How Was Your Week?

Just lazing about these days. Did have some amateur photogs happen by with their instructor, hoping to catch some shots of the locals. Had nothing better to do so grabbed my cam and gave them a quick tour. Think I miffed the instructor bloke a wee though.

Afterward he's looking at the shots I took, comparing them to that of his students and decides to make a lesson out of it. "Now you see here, obviously this fellow's been at this quite a while. You can see by this shot he knows just how to optimize his camera settings. What F-stop did you use here?"

"I don't know, mate. Had it on auto!" -:D

I just found out an hour ago that a :kitty: I helped :kitty:sit a few times in the past just crossed the Rainbow Bridge. She was a tad younger than Tovarish iirc (but I could be mistaken.)

I also found out that I can't sign up for classes this semester because the university's suspending auditing classes (ditto P/F options.) Don't know what I'll do this semester other than twiddle my thumbs. :( I can understand, though, due to over 145,000 deaths here in the United States due to the d@mn virus.

On a positive note, I had another spend down earlier today (getting two new :kitty: t-shirts and two new pairs of bloomers plus a couple of other items that I "need".) Had to spend $1,000(US) to get some "breathing room" for the PtBs (aka my landlords.) Otherwise, I'd be penalized. Maybe I ought to have signed up for an online-only class...

I found out yesterday that I need to schedule a CT scan for (possible?) heart trouble (I also had to get blood drawn, which wasn't too bad, just a tad confusing since they changed protocols.) Good-for-something thing is that everything was taken care of through my cardiologist (he's still impressed when I greet him in Arabic! *shakehead*) Anyway, he was concerned that my heart rate was high for me (mildly so for most people, but I'm not "most people".)

Both the cardiologist and his assistant laughed when they saw my shirt: it is/was the Cats Coming and Going shirt that I got during my last "spenddown" (they both howled with laughter when I showed them the back image!)

I was invited to a picnic that's going to be held tomorrow (I hope that I can find out where exactly so I can meet the newest person at my "bank", especially since she's almost as much of an ailurophile as I am [she even knows about the :kitty: cafe near me!])

I also gave someone a piece of my mind (which I can ill-afford!) They wanted to know if I had voted yet, and who I voted for. I turned to him and told him point blank that when I vote and who I vote for is none of his d@mn business. I never told my parents who I voted for (they didn't ask in the first place, but even if they did, I wouldn't tell them!)

Got the results of my a1cs, and they were bad. :( In fact, they were over 8, which is "active" diabetes, but not quite requiring insulin.

I'm hoping to get back under 6 (but not too far!)

Yeah, I'm a few covid months behind getting mine...

But for you a Cat scan involves looking under sofas and beds eh?

No, they're involved in "checking under the 'hood'/'bonnet'" without prescribing antidepressants/anti-psychotics, plus they check for anomalies with my lymph nodes and several other parts of my body!

I got my annual flu shot today (freaked a few people out when I watched instead of looking away.) The ladies running the clinic at school adored my t-shirt (it was the Cats Coming and Going shirt.) Afterward, I ran a few errands for both tonight and tomorrow (food/fud and transportation funds mostly, but I also picked up a couple of diet beverages at the student union.) The PtBs really changed the convenience shop on the ground floor since I was there last!)

I also found out they had stopped the transportation thing (gotta remember to remove that contact on my cell phone so I don't make the mistake of a$$/u/ming that there's going to be someone there who would be able to assist me in the future.) I wonder if the other major university still has a transportation thing on their campus or if they closed also...

Undergone my annual mammogram (found out that the breast imaging center stopped using the separate changing area due to the coronavirus, so everyone who needs to have the procedure done must remove everything above the waist in the same room as the procedure.) The radiologist and I chatted about our mutual "overlords" (aka :kitty:s.) She's owned by two while I'm owned by three (as everyone here knows) plus we chatted about my t-shirt (it was the Cats Coming and Going shirt, which was relatively pristine.)

Ran into someone there that I wished that I drove some sort of heavy machinery (they told me that I could be "cured" of what causes my hirsutism if I accepted Jesus, which I told them that if what they say is true, then why have hospitals.)

I also picked up some items at the store (vegetarian sausages, hot dog buns, milk and fresh figs.) Might pick up some butter and some whole wheat flour to make homemade fig bars later or a homemade fig cake.

Oh boy, just checked the time (almost four in the morning!)

My week started out bad when I learned two of my childhood chums had recently passed and things just went downhill from there.... :(

Just got a notice from management that they're coming in tomorrow for an inspection (they claim that my apartment is littered with :kitty: waste [I believe they are/were mistaking :kitty: hairballs for :kitty: waste, which aren't interchangeable].)

I wish they would look into the neighbors who use the public hallways as dog bathrooms, leaving the waste behind (then again, the same neighbors use the hallways as human bathrooms, too.)

Oh, and they say that I might be evicted if I don't pass inspection.

Pretty fantastic.

I've been looking for another apt for a few months; it's been either not liking what I saw or thinking it's too expensive, too far away from work, I don't like this, I don't like that.... So God says to me: "Just go by what you want, without thinking of the cost, the distance from work, etc. Just the apt you want." So I thought of the exact apt I wanted, not settling for anything less. And a day later, I found the apt. complex, asked if there is the type I wanted available in late January as that is my time off from work, and sure enough, there was one available that far ahead. Exactly how I wanted except it doesn't have a balcony (it has a solarium instead) but that's OK...I signed the lease last Sunday. It's within 2 miles of EVERYTHING I need in shopping/dining/running errands. Great, since I don't have car (and don't want one).

Thanks be to God.

Lá fhéile Pádraig sona dhuit (Happy St. Patrick's Day) to the majority of IO and blessed Purim to the Jewish delegation.

May next year's festivities be more peaceful. As I Will, So Mote It Be.

My week had it's ups and downs. One of the highlights, out shopping with the wife this guy around my age kept staring at us. Nothing new there, we do make sort of an odd couple. The wife being quite a few years my junior and Indian. Anyway, he started getting on my nerves so I asked him if I could help him with something. "Didn't you use to play at JJ's" We live not too far from where my old band use to play and somehow this guy recognized me from 40 some odd years ago! Second time that's happened now.

Ah....a younger wife......
A widower, I met my 24 yrs wife when I was 43 yrs . I'm nearly 20 years older. She asked me out when she was 25 and when she took me to meet her family the atmosphere was horribly strained, but her Dad and I discovered that we both could use the leather sling, the atl-atl, the slingshot and the shotgun....saved by a sling and a spear thrower... well, neither of us knew any others who could, such a strange gift from fate.

Anyway, my week was cold, freezing cold; a northerly blow sent 2° down below a chilled -5° and I just couldn't stuff myself into any more clothes.
I couldn't cope any further north than Kent UK.

PS..... We've been together for 30 years next month, so all the skeptics needed to reset their calibrations!

Coming up on 34 years as husband and wife for us. She was my pen pal for 3 years prior. Didn't meet face to face until 3 days before we were married! I married a bit late in life, but it was the first marriage for us both.
