Your Daily Rant

I came across the work of Julius Evola again while researching homonculi. It's left a bad taste in my mouth for a couple of days. Let's just say I'm not a fan of his work.

To Whom It May Concern,

I found another foreign coin in my quarters (this one's from Panama, which isn't legal tender in the United States!) I'm afraid to start a load of laundry now!

To Whom It May Concern #2,

Everyone is required to wear a mask on public transportation. It's the law. I don't like it when my glasses get all fogged up, either, but I keep my mask on. What's your excuse for not wearing one, especially when there are free masks right there by the driver?

To Whom It May Concern,

The price of everything in the vending machines has gone up a quarter. Don't chew me out when you can't get two bottles of soda at a time anymore! Besides, why do you need two bottles of soda each time you go to the machine anyway?

To Whom It May Concern #2,

Why haven't y'all let everyone in the complex know of the increase? I don't like being chewed out for your decision, especially when I'm a mere tenant, not management.

To Whom It May Concern #3,

Where the helloandhowdoyoudo did you put my special bus pass? Thank goodness I didn't throw out or destroy my regular bus pass or I'd be stranded!

A rant from my LiveJournal feed: Borrowed from a friend ...

I'm FULLY vaccinated and, no, I don't know what's in it - neither this vaccine, the ones I had as a child, nor in the 11 secret herbs and spices at KFC, or hot dogs, or other treatments … whether it's for cancer, AIDS, the vaccine for pneumonia, or vaccines for infants or children.

I also don't know what's in Ibuprofen, Tylenol, or other meds, it just cures my headaches & my pains.

I don't know what's in the ink for tattoos, vaping, Botox and fillers, or every ingredient in my soap or shampoo or even deodorants.

I don’t know the long term effect of mobile phone use or whether or not that restaurant I just ate at REALLY used clean foods and washed their hands.

In short ...
There's a lot of things I don't know and never will …
I just know one thing: life is short, very short, and I still want to do something other than just staying locked in my home.

I still want to travel and hug people without fear and find a little feeling of life "before".
As a child and as an adult I've been vaccinated for mumps, measles, polio, chickenpox, and quite a few others; my parents and I trusted the science and never had to suffer through or transmit any of the said diseases and, I'm vaccinated, not to please the government but:

To not die from Covid-19.

To NOT clutter a hospital bed if I get sick.

To hug my loved ones

To Not have to do PCR or antigenic tests to go to a restaurant, go on holidays and many more things to come ...

To live my life.

To see and hug my family and friends

For Covid-19 to be an old memory.

To protect us.

Copied. Feel free to do the same.

I don't want to get involved but the missing factor is that all the other things you mention are properly tested? They were not rushed-out and now forced upon billions of people? As I've said before, many people will trust the science and take the vaccine, but those who do not, have to be persuaded, not compelled.

Calling them idiots and murderers isn't the right way, Imo.

But really, so are COVID vaccines.

They were not rushed-out and now forced upon billions of people?
The vaccines were 'rushed out' by virtue of the fact that the authorities dealt with problems that usually slow down the entire process.

The relatively quick development of these vaccines does not mean safety measures were skipped.

There are several reasons why the COVID-19 vaccines were developed so quickly:
  • It's a 'First World' problem, so had resources thrown at it that fights against malaria, say, could only dream about.
  • New technologies had been evolving through studies of previous virus outbreaks. The blueprint was there, it was just a case of fine-tuning for SARS-CoV-2.
  • Countries shared information rather than 'protecting' data to keep a competitive advantage.
  • Some testing stages were conducted simultaneously, rather than the norm which is to proceed slowly, one step at a time.
  • Money was given for vaccine development in advance, so companies did not have to go through long and laborious tendering processes, presentations, the weighing of competitive bids, etc. etc. This alone cuts years off the process.
  • New insights into 'messenger RNA' (mRNA) accelerated the way vaccines are made.
  • Social media was utilised to call for volunteers, and plenty of people wanted to help, there was no shortage of test subjects.
  • Many volunteers who had been vaccinated were exposed to the virus, and with so many exposures, it took a shorter time to see if the vaccines worked.
  • Again, money up front meant companies began manufacturing vaccines before authorisation so supplies would be ready.
In short, the processes are quite fast, what slows the whole thing down is not testing, but bureaucracy.

The process was put on a war footing – there's a reason why all manner of advances, technical, medicinal, scientific, occur during wartime – that does not mean spitfires or submarines were rushed recklessly into production, rather that 'red tape' (bureaucracy at its best) was cut and necessary resources – money – was made available up front.

but those who do not, have to be persuaded, not compelled.
Calling them idiots and murderers isn't the right way, Imo.
No, it's not. Nor is thinking they'll listen to reason. They don't and moreover, they won't. They don't want to, they're invested elsewhere.

There are more flat-earth believers in the country that put men on the moon than anywhere else on the planet. Try reasoning with them.

Honestly, the "you don't know what's in it" argument is so bizarre and a pet peeve of mine.

Granted, I do know what's in KFC's 11 herbs and spices, even though I'm a vegetarian, and I do research the ingredients of my shampoos to make sure I get the ones that have been scientifically shown to be the best for my hair and scalp. I do know what's in hot dogs, especially when I ate them, and even how to make my own.

All of the medication I'm on, I know the generic and brand names, the molecular structure, the known side-effects, about how long they have been used, etc.

And I also know what's in the vaccines, because they're public patents and the studies discussing their development are published in reputable scientific journals.

Some people don't really care as much about knowing what goes into their bodies, but those of us who do actually DO know what's in the vaccine, and, unsurprisingly, it's pretty much the same stuff that's in every other vaccine.

And, yes, all of this research I do does tend to be very time consuming, so I understand entirely why most people don't go to these lengths and I don't think it's a fair criticism to levy against them.

To Whom It May Concern,

Why do you keep complaining to me whenever the soda vending machine breaks? Just write down the telephone number on the machine and talk to someone who can bloody do something to correct the problem! There are several slips of paper you can use to do this!

To Whom It May Concern #2,

The soda machine has jammed four times in two weeks. Next time, please empty the machine of every beverage, then haul the d@mn thing back to the factory. Maybe replace it with one that consistently works!

To Whom It May Concern,

It's after midnight. The last load in the laundry room is supposed to be done and folded no later than nine PM. Why are you doing a load now?

To Whom It May Concern #2,

I had been waiting for close to an hour for my podiatrist's appointment. know that I got there late, but I can't drive and I have to rely on public transportation. Since nobody was in the check-in desk, I checked in at another desk. All you had to do is look in the computer records for all of the information needed. Next time, you will quit your current job and find a job driving me to all of my doctors' appointments (she's a nurse's aide, so you can guess how much of a pay cut she'd have!)

To Whom It May Concern #3

Stop pulling the medical emergency cord for attention. EMS is required to respond due to the fact that the complex has several residents that actually need their services. Hell, I might need to get something for myself due to all of my medical problems and I can't have a service dog due to allergies (having one would cause EMS to visit my flat constantly!) Oh, and stop being combative when EMS decides that you need to go to the ER by ambulance!

To Whom It May Concern #4,

Your appointment was at 1:30 PM. Last Friday. Don't b!tch out all the other clients at the clinic for your mismanagement. Oh, and wear a mask properly. It's required.

To Whom It May Concern #5,

I don't qualify for Medicare because I'm too young (won't qualify for another 5.5 years.) STOP CALLING ME! Oh, and I'm on an HMO that I believe is still around...

To Whom It May Concern,

I haven't taken my metformin since New Year's Day.

Why?

I RAN OUT OF THEM AND I CAN'T GET ANY MORE UNTIL MID-JANUARY AT THE EARLIEST!

I apologize for the all caps here, but I kinda need the medication before I end up on insulin (That's a pain I can ill-afford.)

To Whom It May Concern,

The community room is not a bedroom. If you're a resident, please go to your flat. If you're a visitor, contact either a taxi company or contact a rideshare company. They will take you home safely.

To Whom It May Concern #2,

What is going on with the emergency Metformin prescription? I haven't taken it since New Year's Day. I cannot take insulin due to my stupid blood clotting problem and my pancreas works just fine as far as my PCP can tell. What's more frustrating is that I spent practically the entire day in my flat waiting for a telephone call about my prescription! Thank the PtBs that there wasn't an emergency evacuation!

Dear Google, love the Chromebook I got myself for Christmas, but why in the hell did you imprint the keyboard with lower case letters? These old eyes aren't as sharp as they use to be!

Screw the concepts of "good" and "evil." The only application they should have is in helping us decide which actions to take, not in rationalizing controlling, abusive, and judgmental attitudes towards others. They are a personal quest for each of us, forged in our unique relationships with the divine.

Nobody is good. Nobody is evil. Certain actions may be good or evil.

There's this quote by Joel Osteen that I really like; "Your job is not to judge. Your job is not to figure out if someone deserves something. Your job is to lift the fallen, to restore the broken, and to heal the hurting."

If somebody asks me what my path to God is, then I will share that with them. If they find their own path, even if it's one that I don't believe leads to the same place as mine, then that is their choice. I'm not here to convert anyone, but I am more than willing to share my own perspective and path with those who are interested in it and I'll support anyone who decides to share it with me.

I'm sick of people trying to control one another. That's really all pop morality boils down to half the time. Somebody in power stresses how praiseworthy it is to obey them or do what they want and how terrible it is to not bow to their will. Forget that. Horizontal collectivism is my jam. Down with retribution, up with mutual aid!

We should always ask ourselves, are we attacking or are we defending? Are we offending others or are we protecting them? When you torture somebody because you hate them for being different, that's attacking. That's offensive. You aren't defending your community. This isn't a matter of perspective. You leave them alone. They have done nothing to harm you; they just exist. You don't need to defend anyone from somebody else existing.

To Whom It May Concern,

Why did you claim that Tovarish bit you? She's never bit anyone before! Besides, she has all of her claws intact and at the ready, plus she hasn't been outside our flat all day today.

To Whom It May Concern #2,

Are you volunteering to grab She-Who-Demands-to-Be-Obeyed in order to get her seen by a vet? Also, you might want to grab all of the small dogs to see if it was a canine that's been using the halls as a loo. Oh, and Tovarish would do better if a vet came to the community room for a "See a Vet Day" because I cannot drive and public transportation doesn't allow pets on board (ditto Tomodachi and Maneki.)

Phyllis Sidhe_Uaine

To Whom It May Concern,

I'm not 60 (won't be until 2025.) My brother recently turned 60 and my sister is 61, but I'm the "baby" of the family. Stop giving me a lecture for your own screw-up. I wasn't going to pick up a box today because apparently I know the rules better than y'all do. I'm going to start hanging a sign not to knock on my door until I do qualify! Perhaps y'all need reading lessons...

To Whom It May Concern #2,

Stop chewing me out for not getting The Trio to the vet. Y'all have to read the rules that public transportation have concerning bringing pets on board because I CANNOT DRIVE. I'd like to see you attempt to bloody walk while wearing my glasses! By the way, three of you have scratches courtesy of Tovarish (two had to get bloody stitches due to her armament.) Oh, and my case manager is currently in the hospital due to COVID (she's a breast cancer survivor, so she's a higher risk patient, and she's my transportation for The Trio.)

Phyllis Sidhe_Uaine

To Whom It May Concern,

I can hear your cr@p over my tunes, and I'm wearing headphones! My floor is vibrating!

To Whom It May Concern #2,

Please find somewhere else to chat. You're blocking the halls with your electric scooters, and that's a safety hazard (there were two neighbours "shooting the breeze" right in the middle of a public hallway on the ground floor.) Be grateful that one of my next-door neighbours wasn't coming through or we'd never hear the end of it!

To Whom It May Concern #3,

When was the last time you were in the "Old Country"? Stop with the chatting about the Russo-Ukrainian War going on and what you'd do if you still lived there! Hell, I have friends on both sides, plus there's a rather famous cover band that has members on both sides that tour/perform together! Everyone not involved in this BS/MSPhD are fooking suffering due to this, including nonhumans! Just shut the fuck up! (Please excuse the language.)
