Your Daily Rant

Talk about successful marketing.

Yeah Apple is amazing. They have almost a cult culture of fans. Which is weird as they were pathetic at selling computers, but in the portable market they are King. I was a late, late comer to the smart phone market. Only bought my first one two years ago. The iPhone 6. Which I have no problems with as far as a piece of electronics. It is the cell phone services that drive me crazy. But I will not buying another phone until this model is no longer usable. I do not comprehend the concept that one MUST buy moderately updated piece of equipment every year.

Couldn't justify the price of an iPhone myself. I settled for an LG Optimus Android which I got as a free replacement for my unsmart LG 800 when the network changed. Hasn't dropped a call yet!
Old saw that, but actually Inuit's (Eskimo is politically incorrect you Barbarian!) actually could use refrigerators as it keeps frozen goods at the appropriate temperature without them freezing solid.
LOL... Political correctness ends with President Trump!:p ...and I said, "Eskimo's without electricity." So them Inuit's better have electricity or that refrigerator they bought off the Apple guy is just a cabinet!;)

Who is your carrier?
Don't laugh, but I use Tracfone pay as you go service. I've been a subscriber for over 10 years. They use Att or Verizon networks depending on the phone. You can get a phone from them or bring your own including iPhone. It cost me less than $100 a year and any unused minutes roll over to the next for as long as your service remains active.

Wow, you are a lucky man. My brother uses Tracfone and he has even worse problems with clear signals and drop outs than I do. From watching my brother's experiences my impression of Tracfone is that it is complete crap. Interesting to hear a complete 180 degree story!
I've had problems. One time I bought a Tracfone phone off eBay and it had a T-Mobile sim in it. Turns out T-Mobile has very poor coverage in my area. I hardly ever had a signal. Tracfone made good even though I didn't buy the phone from them. They sent me a new Verizon sim free of charge and gave me free minutes for my inconvenience. That's the phone they also replaced free of charge not long ago with a new Android when the network changed. So, me happy!

Hmmm. Thanks for that info. I will have to see what type of sim is in my brother's phone. Cause it is really miserable when that is your only link to the outside world and service sucks!

When he has important phone calls to make, he has to come over to my house to use my land line.

I think it has more to do with the phone and service area than the actual service provider. Some phones do well in some areas, some don't. The older 2G stuff for instance hardly works anywhere anymore. I hate Apple phones. Seems like unless you hold the damn thing just right, the call won't go through. I'm using an LG LTE on Voda. Works in the states off ATT, but I don't think Voda's available as a provider there.

That's a disadvantage for Trac's. They don't work outside the continuous US. We also get charged for minutes both ways, whether making a call or receiving one. Whereas Voda only charges to make a call. Then again, Tracfone triples the minutes purchased in most cases and Voda doesn't.

I know it's a commercial farm and all that, but damn, do we really need to run the combines at full tilt 4 in the morning? Son wanted to get 4 hours field time in before school. Nothing louder that a bloody 8 meter combine at 4AM!

Except maybe 5 of them!
