The best expression of one aspect of Thanksgiving comes from Benjamin Franklin, who called Thanksgiving a day “of public Felicity,” a time to express gratitude to God for the “full Enjoyment of Liberty, civil and religious.”

...I personally say thanks to all the world and particularly to (forgetting that little skirmish of 1775 - 1783) our UK brothers!

We were "the melting pot indeed" and we exist only due to that homogeneous reality...

Happy Thanksgiving to the American delegation and belated happy Thanksgiving to the Canadian delegation. Hurry up and get the roasted turkey and/or ham before the :kitty:s decide that nobody wants any (they won't eat the vegetarian "turkey" or "ham", so they're safe, unless the canine delegation decides to enter the picture...:eek: :p) There's also pumpkin cheesecakes and harvest apple cheesecakes for those who want, bourbon pecan pies for those who prefer pecan pie over either cheesecake.

Still celebrating...not our acceptance of help and then turning on our original peoples...

But celebrating and giving thanx with family and friends...and gathering warm clothes, blankets and foodstuffs for a trip to standing rock this week....where a reminder of how cold and.callous we can be contimues.

I managed to get into my kitchen long enough to prepare the traditional Turkey with gravy from the dripping, mashed taters and cranberry sauce. Of course my Hindu house guests from Fiji are refusing to eat such strange and foreign cuisine, preferring instead to fry up some canned mackerel while my surprise feast goes cold. Sigh.....:(
 
Happy Turkey Day to those who celebrate it.

Furred purrson plural are going to have turkey-flavoured treats and tinned turkey food while I'm going to enjoy stuffed vegetarian turkey roast (it has kale and cranberries in the stuffing.) I might make some homemade cornbread to go with it, or have some white cheddar popcorn instead....

I'm thankful that so many of us are still alive and with loved ones.

Our niece and grandnephew will be joining my wife and I and the furry ones this year. We got a small turkey for the occasion or "Ah Erd" as Jackie, who will no doubt be supervising the preparation of, calls it. Sweet 'tators, broccoli stir-fry, cranberries, gravy and Chai will round out this year's fare.

Praise Be and Thanksgiving to all....

I have a double recipe of curried pumpkin soup simmering on the stove right now and vanilla Chai brewing in the coffeemaker (thought that you might be interested...)

The wife and niece made pumpkin curry last night. That's sort of a thick pumpkin soup. Chai is just tea in our house. Good old orange pekoe grade brewed in half water, half milk with the occasional slice on ginger. What most people call Chai here, is actually Masala Spiced Tea and it's variants. To Indians though, all tea is Chai.

My "receipt" for vanilla Chai is similar except I use either green or white tea, grated ginger and half of a vanilla bean, split (sometimes a tablespoon of sweetener.)

The curried pumpkin soup is more like a bisque I think.) I'm not sure if I posted the "receipt" in InLove's Mystery Thread... Found it! Post #300 (I believe.)
