Some of us might remember Charles Schulz's strip, Peanuts. I found an article about said strip: https://www.yahoo.com/entertainment/peanuts-peppermint-patty-groundbreaking-female-144241186.html

And they lived outside as working animals? They were not included as pets inside the household? Or expected to behave as pets?I met folks in Alaska....their sled dogs were bred muts, heinzes....husky, shepard, smoyed, Bernard, Wolf, malamute needy monsters. Their grandparents started it and they had these two big droopy dogs with huge paws and thick coats. I wasnt up there in the winter to ride the actual sleds, but they hauled us around on the wheeled trainer.
They lived outside...but were in the house all the time...they pretty much went where they wanted. Bath towels were kept washed at the door. Ya picked one up when you entered...if a dog was in the room ya had to be prepared to wrap up those slobbery jowels so you would keep the towel over your lap at a minimum...i kept my palms under it face up and ready. Lol. They were well trained and would stop if you told them but they had big puppy eyes and wanted scratches...And they lived outside as working animals?
