What NON-POLITICAL, NON-RELIGIOUS Headlines Are You Following?

I'm listening to some headlines about the effects of the heat wave on the marine life along the Pacific coastline, including the massive death toll of the mussels due being literally cooked to death. :(

It's just not fair to do that to a dog or to a wolf, imo

I met folks in Alaska....their sled dogs were bred muts, heinzes....husky, shepard, smoyed, Bernard, Wolf, malamute needy monsters. Their grandparents started it and they had these two big droopy dogs with huge paws and thick coats. I wasnt up there in the winter to ride the actual sleds, but they hauled us around on the wheeled trainer.

And they lived outside as working animals? They were not included as pets inside the household? Or expected to behave as pets?

They lived outside...but were in the house all the time...they pretty much went where they wanted. Bath towels were kept washed at the door. Ya picked one up when you entered...if a dog was in the room ya had to be prepared to wrap up those slobbery jowels so you would keep the towel over your lap at a minimum...i kept my palms under it face up and ready. Lol. They were well trained and would stop if you told them but they had big puppy eyes and wanted scratches...

Just found out that Leonid&Friends are coming to Milwaukee Halloween/Samhain (I hope that I can snag a ticket!) I'll post a link to their US tour schedule if anyone's interested.

Something to remember if/when you're with a friend or a loved one that has diabetes: https://www.yahoo.com/news/michigan-mcdonald-apos-manager-apos-150159157.html

If the companion is going too low and they don't have their glucose tablets, ask for a little added sugar in an orange juice. Medical personnel can always give the patient insulin to counteract a high glucose level because it takes a lot longer to succumb to a high than a low.
