... Beyond that, what does it mean? If it's literally about "No more weapons" then what happens when w're all peaceful and no weapons, no skill, and we're all cozy and happy n stuff? I think it's more about finding peaceful resolutions, making peace instead of war, and sharing that sense of peace, yet never losing our ability or skill set to defend ourselves if need be. No weapons no skill could lead to an absolute massacre if someone came against us. We have our history. ability, skills, and everything the human race has experienced to borrow from. Yes, peace is better in my opinion, but without ability or capability to defend then we leave ourselves defenseless ... I have faith in life, history, our abilities, and I'll continue to honor the warriors who are prepared to defend if needed. Made in God's image and if you've ever read the scriptures than you well know and understand how war and violence and anger and wrath are also a very real part of God. I prefer peace, compassion, charity, love, and joy, and whatnot, but I disagree with leaving ourselves vulnerable.

Of history, like it or not. Human nature doesn't change. Have a weapon to defend yourself -- though you might never need it -- and keep your tinder dry. Imo

I don't carry atm, but I did at one time. I think we can learn a great deal from history and what would've have beens ya know, so I do my best to avoid conflict and have a good time instead. It makes more sense and well ... it's more peaceful and enjoyable.

The weapon can be a psychological attitude. Humanity will never advance to a state of peace on earth. Get the joy I can, but understand this isn't designed to be a peaceful world

Ok, and I suppose I mean it more on a national and society level, than as an individual. Sure, I don't carry a personal weapon. Very illegal here in UK. I've got a catapult I shoot tin cans off the wall at the bottom of the garden. But I but ask God for protection.

However as a nation we need our weapons and armed forces. To think otherwise would be very dumb, imo.

If you've read the passage, you know it is in Isaiah, and the book of Isaiah is prophecy...symbolic...pointing to a future time when there will be no more wars or rumors of war. As near as I can tell I believe this is during the Millennial kingdom. I don't know if we will be in the flesh or in the spirit, if in the spirit I think your answer is self evident, if in the flesh the answer is a bit more difficult - especially since my personal hope is that it is in the flesh, but I don't get to write the rules. This is the time when the lion shall lay down with the lamb, and the little child shall lead them.

Now that I think about it, I vaguely recall a parallel passage in one of the other books of prophecy, it has been a long time and I am not making the connection in my mind. But it is saying that for that thousand year reign of peace there will be no more war. We have to pass through Jacob's troubles before we get there, and at the end Satan will rise up in one final effort and he will ultimately be cast down into the pit and the pit will be sealed forever. So it is written.

Try Isaiah 2:4 and Micah 4:3

If you have read it, you also know there is a passage "beat their plowshares into swords, and their pruning hooks into spears" found in Joel 3:10

To everything there is a time and a season...so it is written.
