Back in the 70's a nice man listened to my ideas and beliefs and told me that I was a Pantheist, and explained to me that believing in everything being a part of God was ....Pantheism. Many years later I discovered that Theism is all about aware, involved, participating God/s, which didn't actually fit with my ideas at all, because the Whole of everything is far to vast to be aware of me, or this planet, or this sun, or even this entire universe....... I mean, the whole of everything is certainly vast!

That's when I discovered that Deism is about everything, every force and anything else being part of the Whole, or God, but a God so enormously huge that God is quite unaware of us or even this universe...... I expect that there are countless universes. If you look closely at the back of your hand, maybe focusing upon a finger, you'll see tiny little hairs; so select out just one for consideration and realise that you have never been aware of that part of you ever, never in your life, nor have you ever cared about it until this time. That's I think the Whole, God, exists.

It took me all that time to find this out because the dictionaries and scholars and academics have taken Deism and stuffed it in amongst the definitions of Theism......... they've put Theism and Deism together.

Theism is about aware, involved God/s.
Deism is about unaware, uninvolved God/s.
That's not similar at all. :) In fact Deism is a kind of anti-Theism..... does not belief in aware God/s, a step towards Atheism, if you like.

But there is a resident Power and Force that rules here on behalf of the Whole, the Deity. It governs everything in this tiny universe, those countless trillions of stars and billions of galaxies........ Mother Nature. It doesn't matter who we are, or what we are, we all bow to her. And that's how I perceive Deism to be a kind of Paganism. :)

How do you assume this as a fact? It could be the other way too: such a vast Deity could also be capable of intimitely connecting with every part of itself? Is there a reason such a vast Deity should not be as much inside and fully aware of every being, on every level, as it is outside?

You may not be aware OB, but the unlimited world and universes and creatures created of God are part of the Baha'i Writings.

We differ we most likely in that we believe God is all knowing, that a creator knows every part of what was created, as is has purpose.

I love the knowledge that it is limitless, both outward and inward, I see that creation is also limitless as we the decrease in size.

Regards Tony

So, do you cultivate a formal relationship with Mother Nature? Do you visit for the Equinox or Thanksgiving, that kind of thing?
I'm too lazy and daft these days ... I must reply to you when I get back to my computer.

Hiya Tony.
Indeed knowledge is without bounds but just lately I've got quite enough trouble just figuring out how to fit a solar panel up ... :)

Yes, your suggestion above would be about a theistic God, I think.
But Deists believe that the Whole of everything is far too vast to be aware of us.
We take our choices.
For instance, the idea that the Creator of all would be aware of and particularly interested in recently developed humans on this tiny planet on a universe of trillions is strange to me.
I can't even call the Whole of everything to be the creator. How did my Deist God become?.....no clue....

I was once quite close to nature when, as a teenager, I would go out under the full moon and light cloud to hunt wildfowl. I learned that on full moons the tide was extra high (springs) and high tide always fell at midnight where I lived . I learned that I could tell the height and time of tide just by one glimpse of the moon, and that wildfowl are much more excited on full moons. It wasn't a stretch to realise that humans are more excitable on full moons as well. We are so driven by sun and moon, just on individual ways.
But I do not rise especially for any equinox, not like the way that I lived for tides, dusks, dawns and full moons.

I leaned deist or pantheist...

But now see myself as a monotheistic panentheist uniting.

Some search for G!d, others for the TOE, I believe if either is found...they will be one.
Fair enough.
I'm open minded but am not searching for any Gods now. I'm content with the will of Mother Nature who definitely rules around here.

Should a limitless deity be limited to not knowing the limitless parts and functions of itself? Should the knowledge be limited, of limitless deity?

Lol...me neither...

What is mother nature? Does she extend beyond our earth? Keep us spinning around the sun, and in our galaxy?

It is indeed the little things that matter. :D

Sometimes the head of a worm, though small, does not indicate the size of the body.

Funny, not sure why I said that.o_O

Yes. The dimension of nature includes all that exists in time and space -- like a room defined by walls of time and space, that is surrounded and contained and permeated by a greater house of Spirit. Spirit weaves nature, imo. A limitless deity should have limitless knowledge?

How should a limitless deity be restricted in its knowledge (and participation) of every level of itself?

You and I, we both are limited, not knowing that much about our parts and functions. Yes?
How much do you know about particular cells in your, say, kidneys?
I just think that we are part of the whole, the Deity, and since every single atom within us ... among countless billions of them , is a complete nucleus with many neutrons and protons orbiting around each, I think my perceptions of an unaware Deity are not unreasonable.
The idea that God has built everything with us in mind ...now that does seem to be a stretch ..to me.

Yes.....I consider Mother Nature to be everything on and about this universe.
It's all part of the chaos of Mother Nature....the way I see it.

We have giant rag worms off here, I never was much good and digging for them but a late friend could earn a lot of money in a tide, digging for them. I've never seen worms caught like that film shows

Spirit.....do you believe in spirits, those which seers and mediums can communicate with?

Maybe we are of such little import that the whole does not notice us?
Some people believe that their God even looks like us, made everything for us, has prepared a heaven for some of us.......now that could be described as a kind of megalomania. I just can see that Mother Nature rules around here ( this universe) and that's a clear fact.
