Woke Christianity

In the other forums apart from Christianity I phrase everything to be respectful of other faiths and speak from my own personal POV but this forum is my wheelhouse per se and I've always spoke from a place of knowledge of my Christian faith. If I have to I'll stick some extra IMOs or I believe etc .. but really? 😂 Am I really hurting anyone's feelings?

Well, "If I have to, ... but ... am I really hurting anyone's feelings?" in itself sounds a bit hurt, which brings us back to Matthew 24:10, only now it is you who's offended. Projection is weird like that.

Just remember that this is a site for interfaith dialogue, not for preaching or soap-boxing. As you noted, this hasn't really changed since Brian's times.

You haven't offended me..
I merely asked a few questions.
I think it is interesting to ponder on why we believe what we believe.

..and I would have thought that the history of Christianity would be quite important in that respect.
I'm glad! I read seriously what Jesus had to say in the letters. The good and the bad. We can see past present and future and I want make sure I'm in a good place.

Something I've been pondering is how people identify church as a building and don't take into account that the church is the body of Christ.. it's a people with a purpose. The Apostolic church met in small groups in people's homes and I wonder if the building is the problem.

Ohh I may have come across as defensive but I did not mean to be. Just explaining myself and my process. I try not to preach and get on my soap box and I do crave the interfaith dialogue presented here. It's problematic that my faith is very intolerant of other paths to God and I can't help that. I am however very tolerant of people on their paths. It's hard to express love in text form but I truly feel love for all people as my Lord died for every single one of them. I'm a woman with a woman's heart soft and squishy. My gift is exhortation and it manifests in teaching and discipleship so please be patient with me! 🥰

That's where the intolerance in my faith comes in sadly. I can always count on you to try to trip me up! 😜 It's not an issue with the individual.. it's an issue with the woke mentality infiltrating the church. We war not against flesh but principalities and powers in high places. ❤️

God's covenant promise to the descendants of Abraham will stand forever as God cannot lie or break a promise. He will be their God and they will be His people. Prior to Jesus they were saved by their faith in YHWH. Post Jesus they are saved by Faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. The hardness of the Jewish heart opened the inheritance up to the gentiles. We were adopted because we believed. It's another prophesy fulfilled because Abraham obeyed God and through his descendants all the nations of the world would be blessed.

May I ask if you are Jewish?
As a child I was confused about God's promise to Israel. He kept promising them that they would get to the promised land. But most didn't. So I was confused about God's lie. But then I read Ezekiel chapter 37. Every single Israelite will make it to the promised land eventually.

That's the thing about faith .. eventually those who possess it will be successful.
However, I do not believe that "an Israelite" who does not have faith is assured success.
It is not about race, although the community that we are born in generally affects our faith.

Clearly, according to most Christians, Jews and Muslims cannot be saved.
Fortunately, G-d is the Best of All Judges. He knows who is sincere and who is not.
Indeed. But you have to admit, according to most Muslims, etc., etc.

The Qur'an is more authoritative than "most Muslims".

"Those who believe (in the Qur'an), those who follow the Jewish (scriptures), and the Sabians and the Christians,- any who believe in God and the Last Day, and work righteousness,- on them shall be no fear, nor shall they grieve."

The main thing is tawhid .. i.e. monotheistic belief in God.
It is not dependent on the Divinity of Moses, Jesus or Muhammad .. peace be with them.

Oh, that's simple – because it's a hierarchical polytheism.
God knows best whether your 'Arian' Christian brothers are/were polytheists.
I know you think that they believed that "Jesus is God", but I would say not.
The argument about "essence" is mere philosophy.

Still inquiring as to your non derogatory def of woke
Ok Wil. Since you won't let it go 😜

I'm not going to copy and paste urban dictionary I'm going to flat out tell you what I feel is the mentality of a woke christian. This will not make me very popular but then again Jesus said we would be despised because of Him.

"feel good about yourself" or prosperity Christianity. God loves me so that means I get jets and fancy houses and cars.

Cafeteria style Christianity.. take what you want and leave the rest.. who cares what the bible says it was written by man and it's corrupted because I don't agree with it

I can do what I want all week and think about God on Sunday at church

Im a good person

I've read all these books but don't know jack about what the bible says but I'm so smart that I must be right.

Every single one of these are contrary to the bible and it's exactly what Jesus was referring to in Revelation regarding the church of Laodicea in wishing they were hot or cold instead of lukewarm. Causing Him to vomit them out of His mouth. Imagine that.

Well, Wil. God is gracious and merciful and like Him we love the sinner while hating the sin. There is no bigger sinner than myself and I need all the grace and mercy I can get.

What you describe are many of the reasons I left the church as a kid, and as an adult everytime I gave it a shot!

If it was hate the sin and love the sinner for real.... I would have less of an argument. But what I see of the majority of churchgoers regarding the LGTBQIA! crowd, the travesty of history in the US abuse of our indigenous peoples, the use of the Bible to support slavery, against mixed marriages, foreigners continues in race relations today, resulting in Sunday being the most segregated day of the week.

It appears to me quite often thos who use the word woke have yet to open their eyes.

I feel like you set me up to let you down. It's not about church goers and churches it's about a relationship with God. I continually say that I have issues with how God's name is used for wrong. It is not my job to condemn a sin because I am a sinner too. The Holy Spirit convicts believers of sin. God doesn't expect perfect people .. only Jesus is perfect. He just wants you to believe. He also doesn't expect a 180 when you come to faith... He is gentle and baby steps you.

In Romans Paul explained the process. When you come to Christ you are Justified.. that means it's Just as if you never sinned. The slate is clean. Then you go through the Sanctification process and this is the baby steps part of it.. you go through glories and each time you go through a glory you go to the next one. Like kindergarten and moving to the first grade. Some people stay at the first glory and never move on and some people read the bible and pray and move further along. Both are saved.

My job is to love my gay friends.. I have a lot of them.. God gives me love for people that is pure
I see them how God sees them. Beautiful. They love me too and tolerantly listen to my ramblings. I have good friends who are Muslim and Jehovah Witnesses and Mormons and Hindu. I just hope that they feel Christ in me!
Wil.. the problem I see is you are too focused on the people and not letting God in because of them and that is so sad to me. The Apostolic church met in small groups in people's homes.. it was intimate and there was fellowship. I don't believe God intended Megachurches and large amounts of people in a congregation. How can we as believers exercise our gifts to nameless faces.

This this running on longer than I intended. I hope you read this and know my heart. ❤️

Can I also humble myself and admit that this thread was a response to a post that frustrated me? Oooh you should have seen the snark I was about to let loose on this person.. I said ok God and I back spaced the whole thing. Then look what I did with this.. can I just say I'm a work in progress?
