At first I rejected the concept of original sin, until the day I actually sinned ( I know what I did, and I liked it). Then I eventually realized the truth of what I was capable of. I also knew what it was I wanted in life...I wanted something I could not put a finger on, but I could see. Why do I believe? Without belief, I have nothing. May be hard to understand but it is as is.SOGFPP said:Whooo boy.... my first thread here!
Ok.... let's see how this goes:
Original sin: I'd like to hear how other members here feel about the concept.
What do you believe and why?
Thanks,

except for when he made man, Adam was perfect & good. I take it very literally.didymus said:Read Genesis 1:26-27
........... "let us make man in our own image"............
If taken literally than God is both good and evil, dark and light
well you just keep believeing that & no i dont see it as something to contemplate. if God creates sin then that makes God a sinner as if He breaks his own commandments...that is mixed up.didymus said:Bandit, i am smiling as i write this to you. God created everything!!!!!!!!
So if God created everything, where did the sin nature come from? I'm just asking, not trying to get you to respond in any particular way. I am pondering this myself also. I don't sit here pretending to know the answer because I don't. And if God created man in his image, what does that mean? To me image means image. We look in a mirror, we see an image, we look in a window sometimes we see an image, water, same thing. So if God created man in his image how else can you interpret this?? It certainly is a question worth contemplating, don't you agree?
rightFaithfulservant said:Sin is flat out disobedience to God. God did not create us to disobey but He gave the capability to make our own choices. Adam and Eve made the choice to disobey God bringing on the curse of death. Sin brings death. He did not want mindless robots He made us to come to Him willingly, submitting ourselves to Him because we love Him that much. HE loves US that much.
serpant is the devil...the devil also chose to disobey & try rising above God & was tossed out of heaven.didymus said:I forgot to add something. if God made man in his image and everything was good, what happened in Genesis 3:1 The serpent was craftier than any of the wild animals that God made.
Genesis 6:6 God grieved that He had made man on earth and his heart was filled with pain.
Things apparently didn't turn out too good there did they?
this is after man disobeyed that God repented...not when he made man."And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels, And prevailed not; neither was their place found any more in heaven. And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him. "
