How did you choose?

I didnt choose a religion, I just chose to believe in what Jesus said he did, and he proves it. Since then, he uses me for his will.

In due time, my dear. In due time. These other things that you rely on will become you. The principals of these other things, I mean. The principals that you stand on today make you stronger than some others around you, I'm sure. As you continue to grow in the understanding of what you can and can not tolerate; what makes you happy and what irritates you; what makes you feel pretty and what makes you feel ugly; what parts of your personality rightly represents you or wrongly represents you in certain situations - you'll be stronger. But there is a fine line between strong and hard. Hard is the lies built up. Strong is doing all things in truth - being true to yourself.

You'll see, Geist. There are exciting things ahead. They will make you laugh, make you cry, make you love, and help you to understand when you should take your battles elsewhere. You think you've been through alot? All this is preparing you for the matters ahead. If you remember to stand on your principals without limiting yourself, you won't regret anything. You'll have such a fabulous life, that you'll want to write a book everytime you go through something.

This is true. Unfortunately, there is nothing anyone can say that will convince you that things will be any different than how they feel now. My parents both died within a year and a half of each other when I was about eighteen. I was inconsolable and I wouldn't wish that kind of heartache on anyone. But I pressed on and despite all the ups and downs, life has been great - made better, ironically, by learning to know myself at a much earlier age then I might otherwise have done because of that time of suffering.

I know it's small consolation to you right now though.

A Product Of Environment!!! Re: How did you choose?

Geist,
I truly believe whatever religion we're born into, becomes our doctrine. Some kids rebel, but most stick with what mom and dad taught. ;)

So why do i feel a dread of living the next day of my life?

Why do I want to end it if its so amazing?

why do I feel like everything in it is against me in one way or another?

I want peace. In heart, mind and body. I want the ache in my heart to stop and the old wounds to heal.

Well, frankly, I think it is in your power to create those things for yourself, when you are really ready.

Pray do tell how then?

Because I can't find peace in anything anymore.

Hi Geist, my answer is to try to find something to get you out of yourself for a while. I always found reading books (not the internet) to be a great way to do this. Or try working in a soup kitchen or some other volunteer job. I'm not sayng you have to be a "do-gooder" or read lofty philosophy or anything, but if you want peace I would try to do or read things that are peaceful. Your signature suggests that your fav music is not exactly serene and I don't judge you by that at all--a lot of my favorite music and art is anything but peaceful! However, your soul will reflect what you feed it.

Now, I've noticed that you've more or less shot down everyone who has responded to your questions. Angst has its role to play, but it does wear one (and others) out after a while.

I read books all the time and as soon as I stop it all comes flowing back in atidal wave.

my sig is my own poetry. But you are correct in my music taste. Usually its songs that reflect what I feel on the inside.

I'm indiffreant to wheather you judge me but if you do I really don't want to know because I'm really bad at taking critisim.

Dear Geist, well that is good poetry. My next thought is then that you are not yet reading books that are challenging enough for your intellect.

But, if your angst is the source of your muse maybe you are not yet ready to part with it?

Just my 2 c and I don't delude myself that it is worth more.

Anne rice, Lian Hearn, Anchiee Min, Terry Pratchett, Douglas Adams, L.J. smith etc.

How can you part with your muse its there for life isn't it?

Only name I recognize is anne rice--vampires, right. I've read a couple of hers. Ripping good.

Try Lord of the Flies if you want something really disturbing.

I don't think you will lose your muse or your talent, but your muse can change and your talent will also grow.

I can only speak for myself, but my muse(s) have come and gone, and there are many. I have had dark times when my muse was my pain and suffering. That muse comes and goes, thought it comes less frequently now. God, in the transcendent sense, is often my muse, as well as nature. My husband has often been my muse since I met him.

Edited to add... Anne Rice is some fun reading. I personally hated Lord of the Flies, because it was so disturbing. If you've never read it, A. Huxley's "Brave New World" is a really great novel and thought provoking. It's an alternate idea of controlling people than that presented in Orwell's "1984." Also, you might like Kurt Vonnegut Jr. Really wierd stuff, but good.

Hey Again Geist,

I'm going through a big fat stinking trouble right now too. I've been involved in this trouble for 4 years. Anybody that knows trouble knows that you can't just walk away from it because it has played a part in the shaping of who you are up to this point. We could talk about sins and all that but no one wants to know how they can further blame themselves for the trouble that they have.

I have involved myself in other things to fill up my void. My trouble is still sitting in the background. It is in the back of my mind during those quiet times and when I seek peace my trouble is the first that answers the door.

I keep rejecting my trouble. For me, what I believe is the power that is greater than me becomes a force that snatches my trouble from me at lightning speed. Sometimes the force is my mind, sometimes it is Love, sometimes it is God, sometimes it is knowledge. You'll find yours. What I'm saying is, the void that you have has to be filled with something else. You have to take your time in choosing what it is that will fill that void because if you choose the wrong filler, then you will just have another trouble. That is why many people get off into religion.

So when your morale gets low, do something that makes you feel lively. When your esteem gets low, do something that will make you feel pretty. When your heart hurts think about the source of that hurt and learn to love that source. Love that source real hard and your rose will begin to bloom. After a while, so many other things will matter more than that low feeling you have - like being full of love for yourself. With that, you'll treat yourself well and others will treat you well too, because they know that if you give it to yourself you won't settle for anything less elsewhere. This is the key to success in any situation.

I tried to read the lord of flies couldn't get into it got up to when the two kids where at a sea or something then couldn't read another page.

Lien Hearn is a novelist whos wrote a japanese novel in the parts its really good.

Anchiee Min - Empress Orchid a story about a Chinese Concubine really good and apparently almost a true story.

Douglas adams - the Hitchhikers guide to the galaxy not a novel I can describe to you but it is good.

Terry Pratchett - Disc world series very ggod as well another story I can't explain to you because its too long.

L.J. Smith - The vampire chronicals - not bad but more for 15 year olds. Could do with revamping for older readers.
