Hi Snoopy...Americans are a lazy bunch. Not as precise in our use of the King's English as it were. We tend to slur together that which you identified as two syllables "si-a" and just say "sia" and pronounce it "zsha".

Not accurate I agree, but I'm imfamous for my inaccurate views of the world and especially of the English language. Thank you for your assistance sir.
